I’m standing here in front of everyone, his or her stares burn holes through me, there’s no mercy. Soon everyone’s hands are raised, I spot Amador and Maille standing in the crowd. Maille is crying, while Amador holds her close to him comforting her. They’ve been my friends since we were young. Amador was a tall strong boy; his blonde hair was often swept into his bright blue eyes. I had to admit he was a sight to see, he had many of the girls in region Americ chasing after him, but he never showed them much attention, he often told Maille and I that we were enough work for him, that he didn’t have time to deal with another girl. Maille wasn’t like Amador or me for that matter. She was a shy quiet girl she preferred her books, and library’s to the company of people. Even if she wouldn’t admit it she was beautiful, Maille’s hair was such pretty shade of brown. She never wore make up, never wore fancy clothes like the others. We were always there for each other; even now they still stood by me.
“It’s decided then!” Robert exclaims into the microphone. The two guards who were holding me, push me to my knees, I felt my hair being harshly pulled back making me wince and contort into a painful expression.
I watched silently as one of the other guards on the side proceeds forward. The guard stood in front of me; he raises the gun and points it directly at my forehead. I hold my breath for a second. I close my eyes desperately trying to forget what’s about to happen. Instantly an image of him appears in my mind, his grey eyes stare back at me his dark brown hair was cut short it just about touch his ears. Then the picture changes, there I stood in the gorgeous meadow I’ve come to know so well, the meadow floor is covered in pink and blue flowers. The sun shines down on me making the whole meadow light up. Normally citizen of Americ never get to see such a pretty scene, most of them prefer the rich city living. In the middle of the beautiful scenery, there he stood; back facing me he wore an old black shirt, and an equally old pair of jeans. He was tall definitely stood taller than me, his shoulders were wide and big it showed off all the manual labor he endures each day. I watch as his body turns around, showing me his face, a couple of scars were on his face it made his face look rugged. The features on his face slowly loosen, his lips slowly turned into a small smile. My breath caught in my throat, it was rare for him to smile.
“It was worth it”, I thought, all of it breaking the law, stealing, it was all worth it. If I could go back and change anything, I wouldn’t change one single thing. I had come to peace with death; I opened my mind to the possibility that life on the other side was better. Maybe I’ll meet him again, in another life, in another life form.
