Dylan's POV
It gets pretty boring around here, it's always been this way I guess. The same routine over and over. Well, I really can't complain I have a happy family and the most awesome best friend. I also get to see her every day. Her, Samantha Dawson. She's never really noticed me, I guess it's because I'm pretty much at the very bottom on the social scale but I'm okay with that. She also has the perfect boyfriend, Daren, he's the guy of every girl's dreams, charming, handsome, smart, kind. Did I mention handsome? Look I'm lesbian, not blind, and I know he's perfect. Sadly out of every girl in the entire school, he chose Samantha, I can't really blame him though she's amazing.
"Helllooo? Is someone home?" My best friend asks me, knocking on an invisible door. "I'm right here," I say and he scoffs. "Sure." He says and I turn my head to look at the blond beauty. "I think your drooling, " Jared said and I rolled my eyes. "Shut up, " I said and he laughed. "Why don't you just talk to her? It's been four years, " he says and I just scowl at him. "I don't need to talk to her Jar. I'm okay with this, just watching from afar, " I say and he sighs. "Whatever you say. Come on let's go before we're late to class, " he says and we walk to class.
"Okay, class today you will be finishing up last nights homework if you've turned it in, congratulations have a free period." Mr. Laurens says and I look over at Jared whose grinning at me. "Mr. Laurens, may Dylan and I go to the lab to work on yearbook?" Jared asks. "Yes. You may." Mr. Laurens says not even looking up from the book he was reading. "Thanks." We reply at the same time. Once we close the door of the classroom behind us, Jared raises an eyebrow. "Go," I say and we both bolt down the hallway. I reach the door before Jared and jump up and down excitedly. "I win. I win." I say as he reaches the door and bends down to catch his breath. "I-i let y-you win." He says through breaths and I roll my eyes. "Sure," I reply and enter the lab. "I don't understand why you don't join track or some other sport. You clearly have the talent for it, even the coach said so." He exclaims as we login to the computers and start working. "Whatever, you know I don't like people pressuring me and all of the other track girls are mean." I point out and he sighs. "You're not wrong but, who cares what they think!?" He says and I shrug my shoulders. "Everyone? Look I don't want any attention it's just a waste of time anyways." I say and he sighs, turning back to his work.
"Hey, Jar I'm gonna go hang these flyers in the hall," I say and take the stack off the printer. "Okay, I'll be there in a sec. I need to put these photos in the correct folder." He says. "Okay," I yell back, over my shoulder. I walk into the empty hallway and start to tape the flyers on the walls. "Hey there." I hear the voice that I dread say behind me. "Hi." I grit out. "What are you doing out here all alone?" Warren says leaning against the walk smirking at me. "I'm working," I respond in an emotionless tone. "What are you working on?" He says then holds up a flyer. "This? Oops." He says then throws the flyers all over the hallway. "What the hell!!" I growl at him and he smirks. "You shouldn't be talking like that in school." He says then pushes me against the lockers forcefully. "Hmm, no one's around today." He says the taps his chin thinking. "Fuck you," I say and punch him in the gut. He makes an oof sound and looks at me angrily. "You shouldn't have done that." He says then raises his fist. I close my eyes waiting for the pain, but I felt nothing. "Heyyyy Daren." I open my eyes and see Daren standing with his arms crossed and Warren looking nervous. "What are you doing Warren?" He says, his voice booming. "I was just making sure this bitch knows who's boss." He says with fake confidence. Because everyone knows who's actually boss and that Warren doesn't stand a chance against the football captain. "Go back to class Warren." He says and Warren still stands there. "Now." He says and Warren finally walks away, but not before sending me a hard glare. "Asshole," I mutter under my breathe and start picking up the flyers. "I'm sorry about him. He's a jerk." I hear Daren say. "It's not your fault. Thanks, Daren." I say and he smiles and hands me a small stack of the flyers he picked up. "You're Welcome. Let me know if he bothers you again." He says and walks off.
