Harriet's last month with the Dursley's wasn't fun

Harriet's last month with the Dursley's wasn't fun. True, Dudley was now scared of her and refused to stay in the same room as Harriet. Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia both ignored Harriet and pretended every chair she was in was empty. They didn't force her to do anything and were feeding her somewhat better.

This was an improvement in many ways, but it did become depressing after awhile.

Harriet stayed in her room and watched her owl most of the time. She had found the name Hedwig on one of her books and decided to call her owl that.

At the end of August, Harriet decided to ask Uncle Vernon to take her to King's Cross. He grunted in response and Harriet took that as a yes.

Harriet woke up at 5:00 o'clock the next morning  and was too excited and nervous to go back to sleep.

Two hours later, Harriet's huge, heavy trunk had been loaded into the Dursleys' car and after Aunt Petunia had talked Dudley into sitting next to Harriet, they set off.

They reached King's Cross at half past ten. Uncle Vernon dumped Harriet's trunk onto a trunk and with a nasty grin he left.

Harriet was confused at first, but when she turned around, she understood.

There was a platform nine and platform ten.

Her ticket said platform nine and three-quarters.

She was screwed.

After a bit of waiting and a very uncomfortable conversation with a man who seemed to think she was crazy, Harriet saw a group of people pass just behind her and she caught a few words of what they were saying. "—packed with Muggles, of course—"

Harriet swung around and saw that the speaker was a plump woman talking to four boys, all with flaming red hair. Each of them was pushing a trunk and they had an owl.

Harriet pushed her cart behind them and when they stopped, so did she.

"Now what's the platform number?" Said the boys' mother.

"Nine and three-quarters!" Piped a small girl, also red-headed. "Mum, can't I go..."

"You're not old enough, Ginny, now be quiet. Alright, Percy, you go first."

An older boy marched towards platform nine and ten, but right as he got close to the wall, he disappeared.

Harriet blinked and opened her mouth in shock.

"Fred, you next." The plump woman said.

"I'm not Fred, I'm George," Said the boy. "Honestly, woman, you call yourself our mother?" Harriet was ready to back away if the woman decided to snap at the boy and hit him, but to her surprise, she only looked apologetic.

"Sorry, George, dear."

"Only joking, I am Fred." Said the boy and then off he went.

Harriet saw the woman roll her eyes, but she did have a small smile forming.
