We answer the door and it’s Jamie’s parents. “Hey Zac we’re here to pick up Jamie,” her mom chimes in a sing-songey tone. They both quickly scan my outfit then glance towards the tribal design on my forearm and look behind me for Jamie. “Umm, let me go look for her,” I say “Ryliee, will you keep the Hill’s company while I go get Jamie?”
“Sure,” she responds. I look around for Jamie I hear the shower running in both bathrooms I knock on the bathroom I share with Jack to make sure he’s in there. He responds with an annoyed, “What do you want?”
“Just checking on you,” I respond. I knock on the door of the bathroom Ryliee and Jamie share and say, “your parents are here to pick you up what should I tell them?”
“Shit, I forgot they were coming, I’m almost done,” she says from the room. I hear the water turn off and she steps out of the bathroom with slighltly messy hair a pink tank top, and blue jeans with grey flats. She ran to the front door and quickly explained to them that she was going with us to the cabin at Lake Superior. “Alright just be safe, okay?” they say to her before they go.
“Ok I promise I will be safe mom and dad, anyways love you bye!” She waits for them to respond then shuts the door. I look at her skeptically, “They were going to New Orleans.” She shrugs. Ryliee and I get in the showers in our bathrooms and take quick showers while the others are packing. When I’m done I style my hair in a quiff to the side then pack quickly. We are all waiting for Ryliee because she was curling her hair and is taking forever to pack. “Ryliee, hurry up we have to leave before midday if we want to get there at a decent hour,” I say as I nudge her.
“I’m almost done just give me a second,” she replies with an edge. While waiting for her I can see the wolf tattoo she has on her back from the back of her shirt. I have a tattoo on my back but it’s a black and white angel wing. She also has a tattoo of angel wings over her heart. Once she finally finishes packing we head out the door and I lock the apartment. We get to our SUV and load our stuff in the back. We all get in and I start the car and start driving to the cabin at Lake Superior, after all it was a 407 mile drive. “Man, I can’t wait to jump in the lake when we get there and Eli is pretty excited too,” Jack says with excitement, Eli is Jack's wolf. Soon Ryliee takes over driving with Jamie and Jack sleeping in the back and while I’m trying to sleep I find myself wondering if this will be the winter we find our mates.
