Xiaojun let the last note fade in the echo of the microphone, he was trembling, sweat rolling down his face, his whole body a mess when a massive applause exploded.
"Encore! Encore!" shouted the crowd when he caught Yangyang's ghostly pale face, realization hitting him.
What have I done, he thought desperately putting the guitar down leaning it against a chair before storming off the stage through the stunned crowd.
"Hey you! You think you can have my girl with that serenade!" someone covered his way, it was Park Deru.
"I don't have time for a loser like you," muttered Xiaojun running around him falling out of the gym slipping on the wet pavements, ignoring the shower form the sky that was ruining his styling, causing his clothes and hair to stick to his body in an unpleasant way. What have you done, he was shouting at himself in his mind, his breath becoming short until he stopped on a bridge above a highway. He leaned at the barrier catching in heavy breaths.
"Xiaojun!" all hair raised up on his body when he heard Yangyang's voice, the boy was equally rain wet and exhausted from running.
"Why..." Yangyang stopped in a small distance from him.
"Just forget."
"Why... I don't get it. Why have you never told me you can sing like that?"
"What," Xiaojun looked at his friend totally buffed.
"Am I not worthy to hear your brilliant singing or what? It's been freaking four years and you're lying about something like that!"
Despite the rain he could see tears glittering in Yangynag's eyes.
"Singing is forbidden it brings bad luck," Xiaojun lowered his head leaning at the barrier.
"What does it mean?"
"That's just... forget..." his jaw started to tremble against his will. "We were going on a family trip, I was four years old was singing my favorite song the whole day till grandma caught me and told me off. In our house it was forbidden to sing, grandmother always said singing is a bad omen, it will bring a punishment, yet this melody couldn't leave my head. No melody could, there have always been so many sounds in here... we set off with the car, it was a stormy day like today, it became dark early. I was sitting on the backseat humming to myself and must have sang too loudly because my mother turned to me. Stop singing, she shouted, I was mad I began to sing louder and louder, till father turned his head form the steering wheel... the next thing I remember was the world flying into pieces, cold, rain and silence, until some men with torches came. They said it's a miracle I had survived without a single scratched when no one else did... it was the biggest punishment I could ever get. They took me to the pastor who was leading an orphanage, the melodies never stopped in my head though but I had promised myself I will never ever sing again, never ever cause so much damage. The evening Ti died I was waiting for you under a roof of a convenience store singing... and tonight... because of that song I will lose the only person I'll ever..."
Xiaojun couldn't finish the sentence as his breath was taken away by wet lips crushing against his, hands tangling into his hair pulling him closer when he was standing there, the world falling into pieces again as he couldn't grasp it or name it, yet this time not by horror and fear, but by insane pleasure. His lips were mushed and squeezed in a way he has never expected to experience his tongue lifted and licked from all sides so it suddenly carried extra taste. The pouring rain mixing with that avalanche making the kiss deeply wet until Yangyang pulled back connecting their foreheads catching heavy breaths.
"Why?" asked Xiaojun stunned.
"I thought you'll never confess," Yangyang's eyes were glittering the raindrops sticking to his eyelashes so artistically.
"B-b-b... y-y-u s-straight," stuttered Xiaojun.
"Freaking straight, just bored and waiting for you to make up your mind."
Xiaojun strangely found his brain too slow to process all that new information, so they were standing there watching each other, Yangyang's hands still tangled in his hair.
"I'm really sorry for what has happened to your family but it's not your fault, ok. You have that talent for a reason, the world needs to hear your voice and wow, you're one of the best singers I've ever heard."
Xiaojun blushed lowering his head as watching Yangyang was suddenly really embarrassing and awkward.
"Let's go to my dorm we need to dry ourselves and change into dry clothes," whispered Yangyang but Xiaojun only pulled him closer by his waist pressing his lips to those soft ones he couldn't stand without any longer.
Yangyang's fingertips tangled into his hair again playing with it driving him insane when they were simply kissing without a moment for a breath.
Thank you so much for your feedback. Did you enjoy the chapter? What do you think about Xiaojun's life story and his reasons to not to sing? What about Yangyang kissing him? What will happen now?
