You sit in your chair nervously. "Y-yes. I am a vampire."
Alucard looks away from you. "When were you turned?"
"I wasn't turned." You look down at your hands. "My mother was turned while she was pregnant with me. I was born like this."
"I see." Alucard leans against the wall.
"What about you? When did you become a vampire?" You look at him out of the corner of your eye.
"I'm not a vampire." Alucard looks down at his nails. "I'm a dhampir. My mother was human, my father was a vampire. However, your circumstances are very unique."You have a short conversation with Alucard before you try to stifle a yawn.
"Ah, it's almost dawn. You must be exhausted." Alucard gestures for you to stand up. "Come, I'll show you to your room. There are some clothes in the closet if you need them."
You walk with him up a flight of stairs up to a large bedroom. You slowly walk in, your hand slightly caressing the curtains of the window. You spot something out of the corner of your eye. A humanoid figure, causing you to get startled and fall to the floor with a yelp.
Before you is another woman in a filthy dress, sitting on the floor, her ivory white hair unkempt and her arm held up in the same defensive position as yours.
Alucard calmly walks towards you. "Don't worry. It's just a mirror."
Your citrine yellow eyes widen as you crawl over to the mirror. "What...? But how? I'm not supposed to..."
"Mirrors are normally backed with silver," he explains, kneeling next to you, "except for all of the ones in this castle, which are backed with aluminum."
You cock an eyebrow. "What's an aluminum?"
"It's a type of metal."
"I see..."
Alucard helps you up and leaves you to yourself. You peel off your filthy and waterlogged dress and throw it on the floor. You collapse onto the soft bed and almost immediately fall asleep. The rising sun glows from your window, filtered so it doesn't hurt your skin and illuminates your room softly. You sit up and stretch your arms out. A long yawn escapes your mouth. You rub your eyes, confused as to what time it is.
You slide out of bed and notice something on the floor in front of the door. A small cream-colored envelope with a scarlet wax seal.
You pick up the envelope. Though it's satisfying to crack the seal in half, you gently peel the seal off of the paper and hold it in your hand."My dearest, {Y/N},
Breakfast will be prepared as soon as you wake. If you desire to freshen up beforehand, there are directions to the bathroom at the bottom of this letter. I look forward to seeing you.
- Alucard"Smiling, you place your hand on the doorknob. You almost open the door before you remember you're completely nude. You let out a sigh and walk to a wooden wardrobe. The doors swing open and you're greeted with a closet full of men's clothes. After searching for a few minutes, you settle on a loose-fitting, long-sleeved black tunic with a plunging neckline. You slip the tunic over your head and let it cover your body. Once you're sure you're fully covered, you head into the hallway.
After countless twists and turns around the castle, you arrive at what you assume to be the bathroom. When you open the large door, you see a very large, circular swimming pool-like bath sunk into the ground. There are many faucets attached to the rim of the tub. Unsure of which faucet does what, you make the decision to turn them all on. The tub, despite its considerable size and depth, fills remarkably quickly with steaming hot water and foaming soap bubbles.
You disrobe and leave the tunic you were wearing at the door. With a running start, you dive headfirst into the tub. You can already feel layers of caked-on dirt and mud being shed from your skin. You breach the surface of the water and begin scrubbing yourself down. The many fragrances of soaps and bath oils fill the large bathroom, steam billowing from the water and collecting on the surfaces of mirrors and stained glass windows.
Once you've made sure you cleaned every inch of yourself and have become aware of your extremely pruned fingers and toes, you pull yourself out of the bath and begin to drain the water. You grab a towel from the beautiful linen closet and dry yourself off. Wrapping your wet hair in the towel, you put on the black tunic and pick up Alucard's letter.
You backtrack your way through the castle until you come across the dining hall. The long table, which would normally fit about 50 chairs on each side, only has two, one at each end. Alucard sits at a chair, holding something in his hands.
"Oh, what am I going to do..." you faintly hear him whisper. "I did it again. What if it happens again? No, it's been over a year. It's..."
Your flinch when you take a step and a floorboard creaks. Alucard's head whips around as he stands, his eyes wide and mouth agape.
You hold your hands up. "I wasn't-"
"How much did you hear?" Alucard sighs, clearly embarrassed.
"Not much. I didn't mean to eavesdrop." You slowly walk over to him.
"What are you wearing?" He asks.
"I just... found it." You shrug, looking down at your clothes.
"We can go into town tomorrow and stop by the tailor shop." Alucard stands up and picks up a chalice, half filled with an amber brown liquid. He walks past you, averting his eyes.
You turn to face the blond man. "Alucard, sir. Do you have a carrier pigeon? I have to send a letter to someone."
"I don't. If you need to deliver something, you can take one of my horses from the stable out back and deliver it yourself." Alucard continues to walk away.
