Part 1

Sunday in Riverdale. A house with people talking to each other, someone shouting, another one falling on the floor. It looks like they are fighting with each other. Feels like they have never packed bags before. Alice Cooper speaks. "Why didn't you tell us about this trip days ago?"
    FP Jones, the sheriff, turns to her and answers. "Because I had to plan who could temporarily take over my job as the sheriff."
    "Who?"
    "Tom Keller who was the sheriff before me and Michael Minetta."
    Alice smiles. "Well, that's good. I'm sure he's gonna be great. After all, he has been the sheriff before, so he should be able to take care of this town again."
    FP smiles back. "I think so too, Alice." He leans closer and whispers. "By the way, we are going to L.A." They both share a moment of smiling and looking at each other.
"Where are we going?" the rest of the family says in a chorus.
Alice turns to them, red in the face, pointing with a finger. "Do not ruin this moment."
The others ask: "What moment?"
Alice waits. "No moment. By the way, shouldn't you three be packing your bags?" FP smiles at her again, internally thinking, ha ha, I see what you did there.
    JB, also known as Jellybean, daughter of FP Jones, talks. "We're done."
"Well, that's great. Then you can all do what you want to do until Alice and I are done packing our bags," says FP Jones, the sheriff.
    Betty, daughter of Alice Cooper, replies. "Great. Jughead and I can go to Pop's and wait for you two there." She turns to JB. "Do you want to come with us to Pop's?"
    "I can come," JB answers.
    Once JB, Betty and Jughead, son of FP Jones and brother of JB, are outside the house, Betty asks Jughead about the trip.
    "I don't know," Jughead says. "I haven't had time to think about it. I've been focusing more on my writing for a competition I found on the internet."

Several minutes later, sitting at a table at Pop's Diner, are JB, Betty and Jughead. They have all three ordered milkshakes as usual. The discussion they're having is about what they have been up to the last days.
    "When will you know the results about who has won the writing competition?" Betty asks Jughead.
    "Saturday evening next week. I will hand it in tonight," Jughead replies. "What about you, Betty? What have you been focusing on this week?"
    Betty shines up with a smile. She has been waiting to tell him about her audition. "I have been practising for a dance audition all week and the audition was yesterday."
    "So how did it go?" Jughead asks, curious about hearing of this. Seeing her so happy must mean the audition is very important to her.
    "Tomorrow I will have the answer if I got accepted. There are several auditions. Only ten will be accepted to the university after the last audition."
    "I have auditioned for a role in a tv show," JB interrupts.
    "Nice," Jughead says. "What tv show?"
"Shadowhunters. I auditioned for the role of Isabelle Lightwood, the younger version."
    "When will you have the answer if you made it?" Betty asks JB.
    "I don't know. They didn't tell me."
    They hear the doorbell and turn to see that FP and Alice have arrived. Betty waves to show where they are.
    When they're all five sitting down, they decide to have a last dinner together before the trip. Jughead orders hamburger with fries, Betty orders mashed potatoes with meatballs, JB, FP and Alice all three order the same dinner which is Spaghetti Bolognese. Everyone except Jughead also has salad with their meals.
    During the dinnertime there is not much talking. They focus more on their meals and listen to what is happening around.
