I'm a passenger in the back.
I look through the arguments still saved on my phone.
Recall the fights we had.
I remember he's an idiot.
Naturally, those are the most in need of rescue.
Right?
I think back, I was at fault as well.
I can make it up to him, I'm an expert at that.
"He's probably fucking dying, I shouldn't have left him, but he said you could save him if he ever got hurt!"
Aiden yells at me, gripping the steering wheel tight, meeting my gaze in the rear-view mirror.
He's grumpy.
"We should have just called an ambulance" Noah chimes in from the passenger seat.
He's sounds both stern and bored.
"I can't stand to see them put him away again, he wouldn't want that either!" Aiden says.
"How do you even know she can help?' Noah asks, sounding so irritated.
"What?" Aiden whines.
"She can't do shit, definitely not what you think she can." Noah retorts.
"Oh! You're so fucking sure huh!?" Aiden bursts out.
"I am." Noah replies before inhaling from his smoke device and blowing a cloud into the endless darkness.
He looks back at me.
"Because, if she could, she would have done some mind-twisting shit on me." he says.
"Huh?' Aiden whines.
"It would make me drop my pants and beg her to sit on my face, isn't the right, Gwen?" with that, he winks at me.
"I know she can, years ago she had this cat-"
"Milo! The Kitten Emperor!' I Interrupt Aiden.
"Whatever! So this cat is in her front yard every day we ride home from school, then it disappears-"
"He! He disappears! He was a baby!" I interject
-then! A couple of days later, It's back again! And its neck is jacked up, and it shouldn't be alive! But it's just climbing a fucking tree like nothing happened to it!" Aiden finishes.
🖤🖤🖤
Milo. You were supposed to keep me feeling loved and safe throughout the brutality of growing up.
Until I reached adulthood, and you lived forever as a collection of beautiful memories.
I thought you would.
but they took you from me, prematurely.
Yes.
They did.
Fucking bastard world.
🖤🖤🖤🖤
"Yeah well, you see funny shit all the time, my guy, I should take it seriously now?" Noah jests.
We arrive at the final red light before we head into the more rural part of town.
Aiden looks back at me.
"You better be able to save him, you're the one who got him back on-"
"He has an addictive personality." I interrupt with smugness.
