Alphys+Undyne forever

Chapter 7: a long awaited end

Undyne watched Alphys across the table. Things were quiet and unsure as they struggled to strike up a conversation after the events at the restaurant. However Undyne didn't mind the quiet, she was happy to have the company of her what she assumed was an unrequited love only day's before. She watched as Alphys made attempts to say something opening up her mouth before quickly closing it.

"Don't look so nervous, I don't bite. Well most of the time" Alphys look startled by that, but then Undyne gave her a quick wink and that was all it took to really make Alphys panic.

"Ohmygosh you cant just- we're- and you're!" Alphys sputtered in her attempts to say something that wouldn't sound so utterly idiotic. But Undyne didn't seem to mind, laughing not at Alphys, but with her. It was warm and comforting, and it made Alphys feel something she couldn't quite describe. "I-I mean I'm not nervous. I'm just so worried I'll say the wrong thing. The guys really shook me up I guess and then I freaked out, you were so worried about it being perfect? I guess I just wanna help make it perfect."

Undyne smiled at that, she reached her hand across the table to hold Alphys'. She did a quick glance around before meeting her eyes. "Now you can't let anyone know this, but deep down I am a huge softy, and having you here with me? In this dingy burger joint seeing you smile at me the way you are now? That's all I need. And I shouldn't have gone crazy because I had that back at that old 5 star place, and I've had it ever since we've met. I was just too dumb to see it, but I see it now."

Alphys had never felt more sure of anything in her life in that moment in time. Her heart was racing, but her face was glowing and she was sure her cheeks were bright pink. "I always knew you were a softy" she whispered "And I struggled, I struggled a lot to gather up the courage to go out with you tonight because I was so scared something awful would happen and I'd lose you. But you make me feel more sure of myself then I have ever been."

Undyne had completely lost her sense of composure at this point. Her cheeks hurt from how bad she was smiling. This is what it felt like to be completely and utterly infatuated with someone and it was only their first date. Though to be fair they have known eachother a long time, but no matter how much Undyne wanted to say she wanted to cherish the moment. "I am so lucky that you are in my life, and I am so happy that I have helped you. Jesus you didn't even stutter once? That's so amazing! I am so proud of you. And I think I have it really bad for you"

Alphys laughed at that before looking around the restaurant, mocking Undyne from minutes ago. "Careful Undyne! Someone might over hear you being a softy" she watched Undyne sheepishly rub the back of her neck with the hand that wasn't pressed against Alphys'.

"Uh yeah, yeah they might. But it's fine cause I'll just BEAT EM UP" Undynes threatening scowl quickly turned into a smile as she squeezed alphys' hand. "I'm only teasing, I'll only do that if they try and beat us up first" she laughed "hey uh I don't know about you but I'm pretty wrapped up here"

Alphys looked confused "but Undyne- we haven't even eaten yet?" She watched as Undyne stood up, she quickly took Undyne's out stretched hand as she lead her towards the exit with little explanation.

"I have something better in mind, don't worry I'll make it up to you on our second date." Undyne smiled looking back to see her dates reaction to the invitation of going out again. To put it simply it was adorable. Her constant blush was enough to make Undyne melt as well as her little excited smile she tried to hide with her free hand. "Good it's settled then" Undyne hummed as she continued to guide her.

As they grew closer and closer Alphys could hear the sound of water getting louder. "Undyne are you taking me to the water fall?" She asked. This was exciting, she had always wished she could have the confidence and sense of adventure Undyne had, and now she was closer then she ever was before.

"Maybe." Undyne looked back at alphys as the approached the water fall. "Okay now you have to trust me on this one" she smiled as she dropped alphys' hand to go over to the water fall. She quickly stripped off her coat and shoes before going to pull of her shirt. Leaving her in her black undershirt and leggings. "Can you swim?" She asked with a smile.

Alphys looked wide as Undyne was already making her way down to the edge of the water. "I-I mean! Not well" alphys replied with a shutter.

Undyne smiled "good thing it isn't very deep. Come on." She reached her hand out and that was enough for alphys to kick of her shoes and take off her cute summer dress. Alphys was nervous but she trusted Undyne. And she was learning more about herself then ever before.

Seeing Alphys make her way towards the water caused a cheer to come from Undyne. She made her way into the water and motioned for Alphys to join her. Which she did after a few more moments of Alphys testing the water with her foot before until Undyne rolled her eyes and pulled her in. "You know I worried way to long about this not going the way I planned, but this was way better then what I had originally thought of" Undyne laughed splashing Alphys, casing the shorter girl to giggle

"I hate how the water is nearly up to my chin and it doesn't even touch your ribs" Alphys giggled splashing Undyne back. "And to answer your rhetorical question, I do know you were worried. I was too. And I'm really glad it's going how it is." She stopped splashing and her smile faded "You know- you uh asked my about my stutter before Sans dropped by and I never got a chance to answer. The truth is I've struggled with really bad anxiety for most of my life, and a lot of it is the circumstances of my child hood but the funny thing is none of it matters now. It doesn't because when I'm with you? I don't worry. I feel like I can be completely myself and no one else has ever done that for me" she smiled before splashing Undyne again. "Don't look so proud of yourself." Alphys whispered with a playful smile.

Undyne shook her head. "Im not proud of myself, I'm proud of you" Alphys lit up like a Christmas tree. She didn't realize how much those words meant to her until she really processed what Undyne was saying. "I told you I'm kind of a huge softy" Undyne added with a soft chuckle before letting out a surprised grunt when she felt Alphys' arms wrapped around her waist.

"I have it bad for you too" Alphys whispered. Undyne pulled away slightly to look Alphys in the eyes, they stayed like that for a while until Undyne broke the silence.

"Can I kiss you?" She asked her hand going up to the others cheek.

Alphys opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. Only a slight nod which was enough for Undyne to smile.
"Yes?" She asked
It's always good to double check

This time Alphys looked more sure of herself and nodded "yes" she whispered back
So they did.
It was soft and beautiful and it felt like the moment lasted forever. And when it was over they stayed in eachothers arms, softly swaying to the sound of the illuminated water fall behind them.
