" So you are finally awake miss (l/n)," one of the finely dressed men states as he pulls out a pocket watch, " and surprisingly early as well."
I was just sitting there in shock as I looked around. Instead of the creamy white walls of the hospital, I was in some sort of library filled to the brim with books with all shapes and sizes. Other people, dressed similarly to the men in front of me, were glancing at the books, taking one now and then. I turn my attention back to the group in front of me.
" W-where am I exactly, and who are you?"
The man in front of me adjusted his dark-rimmed rectangular glasses. " Currently, you are in the Grim Reaper Library," he sighed in annoyance, " which is by far the most inconvenient place to spawn."I deadpanned. Reaper Library? What would they need that for?
The same well-dressed man interrupted my thought, " as for who I am, allow me to give you a proper introduction." Putting his hand on his heart, he bows slightly as he states, " my name is William T. Spears, I work in the Management Division of the Grim Reaper Dispatch." His tall frame towers over my shocked and dumbstruck body, awaiting my response.
" So... I'm dead?" William nods to affirm my suspicion. Now if this was someone else in my position, who would have had an interest in the occult or afterlife and whatnot, they would have been beaming with fascination and spitting out questions as if it were air. They also could have just fainted on the spot or begged a god or two to get them out of this mess.
That is not how I handled the situation.
" Hahahahahahah. No."
" Beg your pardon?" I get up from the marble floor to look up at him. " I really don't know what kind of sick joke this is, but you really got me," the men surrounding me were giving either curious or concerned looks, " but do you honestly think that when I actually die that I just wouldn't be sent to hell or something? I mean, it was a good attempt, but you really didn't hit the nail on the coffin bud."He grimaced, either being from the bad pun, or from me patting his shoulder, " now just show me back to my hospital room before one of the doctors throws a hissy fit about me leaving my room." I turned around, only to make a 180 to add, " by the way, love the organization you put into this joke. Must of cost you a lot to get my hopes up." I turned back and started to head in the opposite direction.
"(Y/n), your not even in the right time period. There is no point in denying your passing." I pause in my tracks. ".........I'm sorry, what did you say?"
"That there is no-"
" I got that part, the sentence before."
" That you're not even in the right time period. Currently, the date is June 13th, 1888."
Now, this is the part where I start to lose my mind and have a bit of a panic attack. "HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!?" I screech as Williams rubs his temples, calming his probably raging headache. " (Y/n) if you let me expl-" " H-how. That can't be possible- I mean come on. How am I supposed to live with no rights and WiFi. And in England? During this era?! That is just asking for another bubonic plague! I may be loaded with diseases and could possibly cause a mass genocide by just BREATHING! How the hell is this-",Before I could mutter more panic a gloved hand was slapped over my mouth.
" If you would let me clarify the situation, instead of mumbling helplessly like an idiot, you would have understood this from the start." He let go of my mouth. " Now come along, we need to get your files in order. And keep behind me before you get lost."
