Nick continued staring at those deadly eyes, bright as the sun, staring back at him through the darkness. Suddenly, the eyes disappeared...making the way clear for nick to escape. Nick slowly got up, walking slowly towards the gate of the cell. He was being very careful, as he didn't know if the eyes had left, or were still there, in the darkness. The cop on watch, snored, as Nick made his escape, he was quiet and subtle. There were  other people in 2 other cells next to him, who started to whisper saying "Psst, hey boy! Come free us, now!". Nick did not respond to them as he slowly kept walking ahead, on his toes. The men in the cells, started to scream and shout, making the cop wake up with a sudden jolt. Nick ran as fast as he could, not looking back, however, the cop had seen him, and started running to catch him. Nick was fast and outran the cop, who then went back in and called his boss to inform that Nick had run away. Nick ran and ran through the darkness of the night. "Why did that man help me? He is a killer, I thought...he was going to kill me...not free me" Nick said under his breath as he ran. Within a few minutes, there were cop cars following him. The sirens blared louder and louder, they were on to him, he was only 16, and no sprinter, he couldn't outrun the cars. So he took a turn, and ran from the middle of two big buildings, he made it to the other side, panting, trying to hide.

There was a sudden knock, on a wall, and as the night was silent, the only sound being the sirens, Nick heard it, and looked around to see where it came from. He then saw those menacing eyes again, standing in the shadows of what looked like an old and dirty building. The building had cracked walls, the paint had worn off, and it was abandoned. The eyes disappeared again ... Nick thought to himself for a minute if he should go in, but then he heard the cops running towards him, and without giving another second to his thoughts, he ran inside the building. The building was so old, and so smelly, he could see cobwebs on the upper corners through the moonlight, but he had no other place to go to, so he ran to one of the rooms, and hid there, in darkness. He heard the cops enter, they had not seen him, but they were checking to see if he was there. Nick covered his mouth so they would not hear him breathe, and waited for something to happen. The building smelled awful, and the cops did not want to stay in there for another second. But they had to do their jobs, so they began opening the doors of all rooms, and took a quick look. Nick could hear them kicking the doors open. He started to sweat, and cry. Suddenly, a hand out of the darkness, held the hand which was on his mouth, and pulled him. Nick couldn't scream for help as the cops were right outside and the hairy and dusty hand was covering his mouth. In a matter of seconds, the cops kicked the door open, but Nick was nowhere to be found. The cop shut the door, and walked out of the building, Nick could hear them speaking as the building had thin walls. The cop spoke on his walkie talkie telling the rest that the building was clear.

Nick sighed, but he had another threat, he looked back to see who had pulled him. As he turned and looked at the figure, he could only see its eyes, and the outline of its body. The eyes were yellowish-white, with hazel coloured eyes. They were not the same as the ones that had been following him. He tried to get away but he felt a sudden pain his head, as he fainted. He had been hit by someone on his head. As he woke up, he found himself, tied up, and could hear two men speaking. As he looked around he saw them, there was a dim light coming from a candle placed between them. They were both old, had torn clothes, and had dust and dirt all over them. They were smelly, and had yellow teeth. "What should we do with this boy?" said one man. "We could sell him" said the other man. Suddenly the light went out, making the room dark again. Nick began crying as he did not know what to do. He knew he was going to be sold, but, he did not want to belong to someone, or go to someone he doesn't know. Noises of bones cracking and screams were heard after a few seconds. Nick looked at where the noise was coming from. He then saw those menacing eyes again. Standing tall.

The eyes slowly moved downwards. The candle started glowing again, as it was lit by the person in the darkness. Nick looked at the candle, and saw the two men, laying lifeless near the light. Nick was scared, but not as scared as before. He knew that the person did not mean him harm, as all this while the person was helping him. Yet he did not know the persons true intentions. He saw that a small knife was thrown near his foot. As he looked up to the eyes again, they were gone. So he quickly turned around and held the knife with his hands, and started to cut the rope open so he could be free. It took a while as he had never had to cut roped open while he was tied. Once he was done, he stood and walked towards the candle, picking it up and moving it around the room to see if the mysterious person was still there, but all he could see was the dusty room, and the two lifeless bodies. Nick had no clue what to do, so he searched the men and found their wallets, which had very less money in it, but enough to buy nick a packet of chips. He was starving, so he went outside to find a super market. He was extra careful as he knew that he was being searched for. He quickly headed to the nearest super market he knew of, and bought himself a packet of chips. Once he had purchased it, he headed back to the building. He took the light which he had left in that same room where he was, and went to another one, as he did not know if there were any more people who stayed with those two. He found one room which was completely empty, dusty and dirty, but it had no furniture. He went inside, shutting the door behind him, and sat down, eating his only food. Thinking of what he should do next. He did not know what to do a his family had turned their backs on him, so he had no place to go to.

He started crying again, as he finished his packet of chips, and lied on the floor. "W-why is this happening, why me!" He asked to himself, as he curled up, wiping his tears and trying to sleep. After a few hours, he finally went to sleep. Soon it was morning, the sun shedding its bright light into the room through the window. Nick woke up, and looked around, rubbing his eyes. He sat straight, thinking to himself, he was hungry and very thirsty. He did not know where to go. He then remembered that he could go to his favourite uncle, Tim. But he was not sure if he should, as he would have to give an explanation...and he knew that it is possible that uncle Tim would not believe him, as his own mother did not. However he had to try, so he ran outside the building, still being careful, but as soon as he stepped out, he saw a poster on a light pole, which was not there the previous night. He went closer, squinting his eyes to read it. His eyes then widened, his jaw dropped. He saw his face, on the paper, right above his face, written in red "Wanted". He ran back inside, crying, he had now realised that he had no freedom. If anyone saw him even standing on the street, he would be arrested as his poster was everywhere.

What should Nick do now...He is now a criminal on the run. The only person Nick could rely on...was the mysterious person, who keeps helping him. However, Nick has no idea of how to contact them. Or does he?
