"Red! Come along now or you'll be left behind." I raise my head from the patch of Daisy's and run to catch up with my mom and dad, hitting there rears due to my speed. I noticed a butterfly flying around and it lands on my nose, I look at it then sneeze causing it to fly away. I chase it around until my dad growls and looks at me and I stop and continue following my parents. I sigh and look around I noticed a bush started moving then a head peeps out...
its a wolf pup. It he looks at me and I stare at him. I smile and then trip not watching were I was going tumbling down a hill and landing upside down next to a tree.
"Ugh.." I groan as the wolf approaches me I give a goofy smile stand up and shake of the dirt. "Hi!" He looks confused for a second and looks around "hi..." I chuckled at his dumbfounded expression "I'm red! And a fox as you can probably tell" he chuckles, "I'm chandler...a wolf as you can probably tell..." He smiles and so do I.
"Red! Get over here this instant!" My mother says looking shocked and disgusted I look at chandler give a weak smile and walk towards my mom with my head hung low. " you know better than to talk to wolves and other untrusting animals!"
She snaps and pushes me along with her tail. I look over at the wolf and we stare at each other until he goes back into the bushes. when we get back to our cave my mom and dad go to talk with other foxes as I lay in my special hole and think about the wolf I met.
~3 years later~
Chandlers POV:
I wake up stretch, yawn and walk out of my den I groan as I see all the she wolves making googly eyes at me due to me being the next alpha. Most wolves would think this is paradise and want to be in my paws but to me its annoying.
My father signals for me to come up to the rock were we all gather around for meetings and I simply follow, as I walk up my best friend Bodie quickly catches up with me and has his classic wide grin plastered on his face.
"What?.." I say looking away, " you know what day it is..." He nudges me "no..I do not... What day is it?" He gives me a toothy grin and rolls his eyes. "Cmon! Its the day your dad might anounce you the one who calls the meeting! You know the first step to becoming an official alpha." I laugh at his upbeat mood and climbing up the rock as Bodie sits at the front of the rock waiting for his prediction to be right.
I sit down next to my dad as he gives me a proud smile. Confused I ask, "um...da- i mean alpha hitch what exactly am I doing up here" yes, I call my dad alpha. In our pack the next wolf who becomes alpha has their kin call him alpha as a sign of respect. "My son I think it is time for you to take your first step to becoming the future alpha of the pack." My eyes widen and I look down at Bodie my face expression shows him that he was right and he laughs and pounces around howling in excitement and causing a scene. I laugh and look at my fathers face and sees his disappointment. My face immediately goes stuff and I look back down at Brodie,
"I swear that pup will be the death of me.." My father grunts and I snicker "um alpha hitch he the same age as me..." My father rolls his eyes and barks to get everyone assembled to the meeting as everyone gathers around my dad stands up "my pack, as you know my son is getting older and with age comes privilege and responsibility..."
I yawn and roll my eyes being alpha wasn't really my desire there's so much responsibility and I won't be able to play with Bodie anymore. Even though we are grown and mature, we still like to have fun! Not realizing I was zoning out and my dad was finished with his little speech my dad and the whole pack was looking at me to say my vows. As the future wolf and alpha must say his vows to keep his word and make it official. I've been taught and trained for this as I slowly make my way to the front of the pack I suddenly forget my vows and started stuttering. "I- uh h.." I look over to Bodie and see him playing cherades and mouthing words for me to say. "Uh... Once more in the fray, Into the last fight I'll ever know, live and die on this day- live and die on this day." Everyone else repeats and start howling as I'm the last one to join in giving a proud blood curdling howl.
My dad comes up to me and nods in approval "tomorrow my son, youll be able to let your wanderlust out and go for your first ever hunt." He walks away and the pack decends leaving me and Brodie. "Well chandler now that your almost alpha the next step is to find your shewolf. So...have any in mind?" I shake my head at his dumb question. "Brodie all these she wolves aren't my type and there all so...showy" Brodie grins and leans in closer "how do you know if you've never talked to them?" He pushes me towards them and run off into the distance but still watches me. The shewolves smile and giggle while fluttering there eyes at me." Oh boy..."
