She could feel it, the sensation of power.
Nitro's glared at them, resentful, yet unable to do anything with their unbridled rage. She knew they were leaderless without Huld in the jail, and this left her open to rise to power.
The common prisoners clearly revered them as immortal. They could eat where they want, stay where they want, enter any room they want without any sort of fight or encounter. Crowds parted for them like the red sea, and she loved it.
The Spectors were the only ones who were divided. Many fell silent, wanting to wait for Edric to hear the news and give them new instructions. While members like Rendell were more than happy to support Markus's change, the next day, he even asked his best friend to tattoo the same design on the back of his neck.
The four of them are sitting out in the yard, discussing important matters. When Enzo, accompanied by three guards, one of them being Dyn, approaches them in bulky strides. Birdy whispers to her friends.
"Here we go..."
They all turn on him. The guards grab them by the arms and pin them in place. "Hey! Watch it!" Markus snaps. He receives a hit across the head and shakes the cobwebs away.
Enzo grabs Birdy by the back of her neck and tugs her head face down. Her neck, completely exposed.
The shadowy form of a beautiful dragon is draped around the nape of her neck. It has four legs, and large wings embracing the dark color of her skin, while it's tail forms a loopty loop and has a sharp feathered end. Around the dragon's thin neck, is a the same small collar the prisoners wear, drawn in grey and black. At the base, the metal is shattered and scattering shards up to her hairline.
"What the hell is this?" his words bite but she takes the injury in stride. "You like it? We designed it ourselves." He pushes her away and the guards tighten their grips at the sight of Enzo tightening his fists.
Barn teases. "Thought you were supposed to be protecting us?" Ardenia speaks next. "You know the deal right sir? We die in the ring." The four of them stare at Enzo challenging him with firm faces. He bites his lower lip and orders his guards to unhand them.
"Believe me, you will die in the Colosseum. We'll make sure of it..."
With that, he leaves them alone in the yard. Birdy makes eye contact with a group of prisoners that watched the interaction. They nod at them giving a sign of respect.
"As far as I am aware-" Markus says. "Adamant has three dragons left in his collection."
"We're halfway there." Barn chimes. Ardenia looks at their leader. "I'm sure you're not foolish enough to believe he'd actually let us go if we win, right?"
Birdy smiles at her. "Never."
She puts her hand to her chest.
"I actually have something to tell you."
"A new plan Bird?"
"Sort of..." She smiles ear to ear. A familiar burning fire rising from a glowing spot in her chest. The flames bite the back of her throat and she feels ready to spit fire.
"It's about the first time I met Carnivore."
