Poetry is something that I'd only dreamt of writing. Before I created these poems of this book, I didn't understand what poetry was or what it took to write it. Now I know that poetry has infinite possibilities beyond my imagination, which is exciting. I tend to be drawn toward things of this world with minimal limitations.

I believe my writing has grown in many ways throughout these five poems alone. The writing dates span from early September to early November. Pieces of my life and emotions I've felt and maybe not understood have bled into the words of each poem, both intentionally and unintentionally. Poetry has been such a blessing for the main reason that it's placed itself in a piece of me I didn't know was even missing. I've discovered so much about myself and who I want to be by writing poetry, and these five poems reflect it all.

Rebel is basically a rant about thoughts I've struggled with as well as opinions about multiple subjects. At the time that I wrote it I was feeling extremely rebellious, and questioning why I chose to do the things that I did. I asked myself, "Am I doing these things because I truly want to, or because it's what society says is the right thing to do?" I know that life is short, but can seem long, so I want to do what makes me happy with no regrets.

Reunion is a sonnet that I wrote in early November. I felt winter coming on and everyone seemed to be commenting or writing about winter as a season. It's so much more than that to me, and I wanted to capture that in words and emotion. This season brings me the same sentiment every year, and I wanted to show that through this poem.

Love Is For The Blind is a poem I wrote about a sense I feel is greatly underappreciated. I wanted to personify it, bringing it alive in a way that was unique and relatable. During the time that I wrote it I was feeling a lot of different ways about my current situation in life. I see that in the words of each stanza.

I've Got A Bright Alley And A Bad Idea is one of my favorites. I experienced something that I hadn't in a while, and this moment in time had a big effect on me, so I wrote about it. I wanted it to be like a moving picture behind your eyes, right on the cliffs of your imagination.

Gustav: You Seem To Glow Warmly Even On The Grayest Of Days is my favorite poem that I've written, and that is why I placed it last in this book. I believe that Gustav is someone to everyone, but for me he is the person that will never be a constant in my reality, but always a constant in my dreams. To others that may seem sad, but personally it is comforting and keeps me going when reality really sucks.

With some hope, some harm, and a few false alarms, I've grown in my writing in so many ways, but I think the main way I've grown is accepting that weird is a great thing! It brings uniqueness to every poem and every line. Now I can write through a lavender colored lens.
