"Hello?" My voice echoes through the farmhouse as I stand outside of the front door. Slowly, the front door opens, and Henry stands there, a smirk on his face.
"So, he arrives." He says to me, "Come in, brother." He opens the door for me to walk into the front room. I nod at the man and look around for Faith, "She's just getting her stuff together. God, she's been piecing together her outfits for days it seems."
Thomas can't help but chuckle, "Well, she has no reason to. She'll look great regardless."
"Henry? Can you help me with my bags?" Her voice calls out from her bedroom. Henry looks over to me with a small smile.
"That's on you." He says before leaving me alone. I chuckle to myself and walk down the hallway, following the sound of music and humming. I finally reach her bedroom, and stand in the doorway, watching her as she scurries around finalizing her packing.
Her auburn hair is curled perfectly and she's wearing an emerald green form fitting dress with long puffy, see-through sleeves. Her lips are painted with a rose colour, and on her neck sits the necklace I bought her. I can't help but smile to myself as I watch the woman. "Henry!" She calls out, her back to me.
"I thought you'd prefer my help." I call out to her, and Faith stops what she's doing. She turns around to face me and a large smile spreads on her face as she rushes over to me; wrapping her arms around my neck.
"Oh, Tommy!"
I hold onto her tightly; not wanting to loosen my grip in fear that she'll disappear. I sway her in my arms and press my lips against the top of her head. "My girl." I murmur to myself, holding her in my arms. "I'm so happy to see you."
Faith moves her head and looks up at me, kissing my cheek. "I'm so happy you came." She says with a smile on her face, "You look dapper." She smirks before taking my hand and leading me to her bed. "I'm sorry if I overpacked, I just didn't know what we'd do or what I'd need." She tells me, beginning to ramble. "I figured a dress for every possible occasion is fine, yeah?"
I chuckle, "You'll be fine, dear. Let's load these up in the car." I grab two of her bags, and Faith reaches for her coat; pulling it on and tying it at the waist. Her heels click against the hardwood as she follows me out of her room.
"Ready to leave?" Henry calls out to his sister. The woman stops and looks at him, a small grin on her face.
"Please don't burn the place down." She begs him. The man chuckles, pulling her in for a hug before looking at me.
"Promise." He tells her, "Take care of her, yeah Tom?" and with that, I nod. We wish our goodbyes, and I load her bags into the car before opening the passenger door for her. She hops into the car, a smile on her face.
I close her door and walk over to the driver seat, turning the car on and beginning our journey to mine. I move my one hand from the wheel and reach over to Faith, clasping her hand in mine. "I'm glad you like the necklace." I tell her, looking over at her quickly before regaining my sight of the road.
A blush covers her cheeks, "Tommy, you didn't have to. It's absolutely stunning." She says, still seemingly shocked by the purchase.
I shake my head, "It's the least I could do for you." I tell her before giving her hand a gentle squeeze as we continue the ride home.
---
"Here, let me help you!" Faith says as she reaches for one of her bags. I've given up fighting with her about her bags, she insists carrying her own.
"Fine, but don't complain if it gets too heavy!" I tease her before grabbing the larger bag and walking towards the front door. Faith looks up in awe at the large house, her eyes wonderous and excited.
I nod at one of the maids and watch as she opens the front door for us. Faith smiles and greets her before walking inside and setting her suitcase on the floor by her feet. "Tommy, this place is absolutely stunning. This is your home? Or are you joking me?"
I chuckle, "All mine, love." I tell her before reaching for her suitcase and taking it. "Follow me." I tell her as we walk over to the stairwell and up to my bedroom. Faith continues to stare in amazement with each room we pass; bouquets of flowers everywhere and elegant paintings hanging on the walls. I set her bags by the foot of my bed and Faith smiles, taking a seat on the end of my bed and shrugging off her coat. I take a seat by the window and grin back at her.
"Are you sure this isn't some sort of trick? Are you conjuring to use me as bait for some sideways deal?" She teases me and I chuckle before standing up and walking to the bed; bringing my hands to the side of her face.
"I couldn't trade you off for anything." I tell her while looking into her eyes. My eyes flicker to her lips and Faith smiles before nodding. I lean down and happily press my lips to hers, the taste of strawberries and wine. She moves her hands to the back of my neck; pulling me closer and I take a seat beside her on the bed.
"It had to be you." She whispers to me, removing her lips just slightly from mine. "Out of everyone I could've fallen for, it was you."
I lean in and quickly steal a kiss from her, "I'm not complaining."
Maybe everything does happen for a reason.
