Michelle Robinson sat at her desk, softly humming as she doodled on some scrap paper. The art wasn't the best, but she was pretty pleased with how it looked. It was a fairly quiet evening, and the sunset left a soft orange glow in her room. Normally, she could hear cars and people walking and driving by, but today barely anyone passed by. The ten year old didn't mind, it gave her more time to get lost in her thoughts, and allowed her to open the window for fresh air, which was rare due to how often it rained in London and how loud it could be. The breeze picked up, pushing her long hair back and causing her to squint slightly. She reached up to close the window, but something pale flew at her, causing her to scream and fall over.

The pale thing landed on her desk. She looked up to see a beige owl patiently sitting on top of her scrap paper, and it had something in it's beak. Curious, she approached it and gently took the item out of it's beak. The owl didn't move. The girl called for her parents and they shortly arrived, shocked at the sight before them.

"This was in it's mouth. My name is on it." Michelle said, handing the envelope to her mother, who opened it, and read it with wide eyes.

"What does it say?" she asked, worried from her mom's reaction.

Her mom cleared her throat, and slowly read:

"Dear Miss Michelle Robinson,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We understand that this may be confusing, as you have been raised as a Muggle, but there is an enclosed list of all necessary books and equipment, and instructions on how to get them. The term begins on September 1st. We await your owl by no later than August 20th. To avoid detection by other Muggles, please use the entrance located at Kings Cross Station Downtown London, on platform 9 3/4. We look forward to having you at our school.

Yours Sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall

Deputy Headmistress"

And that very letter began it all.
