Present Day

-------------------------------------------------------

"I'm just saying, if he wanted to ask me out, he could have just said so!" I explained to Bridget.

"He tried, I saw him. He was really nervous. You should have given him a chance." Bridget said.

"Hey, I gave him the bagel, no charge!" I argued with her.

"Yes, because bagels mend broken hearts." Bridget replied.

Bridget and I had just gotten back from work. A boy I used to know in school came into the bakery to buy a bagel. He took a long while picking one out. When he gave me the two dollars, he also handed me a peice of paper. It read, "Will you go out with me?" I politely refused, but gave him the bagel for free. Bridget disagrees, saying I should have given him a chance.

"But really, why didn't you give him a chance?" Bridget asked me, opening a bottle of water.

"I- I don't know. . I just don't think I can move on. . " I told Bridget.

"You mean from Louis? You guys didn't even date!" Bridget said to me.

"Yeah, thanks for reminding me. He did break my heart, though. I mean, I had a crush on him for who knows who long, and then he goes off to college in Britain. Then, he freaking calls us from the X-Factor and tells us he's in a world famous band and that he's running around getting girls left and right! That girls are screaming his name! AND IT ISN'T FAIR BECAUSE I SAW HIM FIRST!" I finished, out of breath.

"It could be worse, he could be dating someone." Bridget told me.

"That's true. It just makes me really mad, you know? Like, all those girls in our school used to never flirt with Louis. He used to be so quiet around everyone else. He would only be crazy when he was with me." I said sadly.

"You mean with us." Bridget corrected.

"Whatever. And now, he's the most outgoing and girls are falling for every single little thing he does, and he pays no attention to me anymore." I said sadly.

"Stop being so selfish, he facetimes you all the time!" Bridget said.

"Well, not all the time!" I argued.

I looked at the counter, where my phone was vibrating on the granite. I picked it up off of the counter. It read on the screen, ''Lou<3 would like to facetime" along with a picture of me and him eating ice cream. I remember the day we took that picture. We were celebrating Louis' birthday for the first time since we had met him. All he asked for that year was ice cream. Bridget had snapped this shot  of us making stupid faces. Now, everytime he calls me and it pops up, it makes me smile.

"Yeah. All the time." Bridget said triumphiantly walking up the stairs to her room. I picked up and fixed my hair a bit.

Louis' face popped up on the screen, his real one, not his picture.

"Hey there best frieeeeeend!!" Louis yelled into the phone.

"Hey! You sound happy!" I exclaimed to Louis.

"I am! WEEEEE!" Louis yelled, swiveling around in a swivel chair.

"Why?" I asked.

Louis stopped swiveling and looked at the screen seriously. Then his lips slowly turne upward into a smile. "It's a secret." He announced, placing his pointer finger on his lips.

"Aw, come on, Lou. You can tell me." I told him.

"Okay, okay. You can get off of your knees begging. GOSH, I'll tell you. Okay you," Louis paused. "and Bridget," He paused again, "and Eleanor." Louis finished.

"What about us?" I asked him.

"YOU'RE COMING TO SEE ME AND THE LADS!" Louis screamed.

"What?!" I yelled. I also heard a muffled "What?!" from upstairs.

"One second, Lou." I told him, putting my phone on mute and turning it over on the counter. Bridget came down the stairs holding onto the walls, with her hair all over the place.

"Were you eavesdropping?" I asked her.

"Maybe just a little." she replied.

"I'm going to kill you." I said smiling.

"Come on! It was for your sake! You just told me your feelings then he called! SO I figured you might blurt out your feelings to him. And me, being the awesome best friend I am, was just eavesdropping to make sure you didn't say anything stupid. That way, if you did, I could ninja roll down the stairs and create a distraction while you run off to Mexico!" Bridget said, out of breath.

"My ninja rolls are way better than yours." I told her.

"OH whatever, go back to talking to Louis." She replied.

Louis! I almost forgot! I turned the phone back over and was greeted by Louis' handsome face. I took my mic off of mute.

"SO?! Watcha think!?" Louis asked me.

"I think you're crazy! We don't have that kind of money. WE WORK IN A BAKERY." I explained to Louis.

"You're the one who's crazy if you think I am going to let you pay for it! Of course not. I'm arranging it and paying for it." Louis said with a smile.

"That's really nice Louis but I can't accept- " I was cut off by Bridget harshly taking the phone.

"We'll take it!" She yelled then hung up.

"What was that all about? I can't accept money from Louis!" I told her.

Bridget thought for a moment. Then turned to me and said, "Think of it as payback for breaking your heart."

"Well, when you put it that way, let's pack!" I said, grabbing her hand and running up the stairs.

"Oh no honey, you're gong to reconnect with Louis after not seeing him for two years, we're going shopping!" Bridget announced and dragged me to the door.

"Okay, let me grab my purse!" I ran back to the kitchen counter and grabbed my purse. This is great. I get to see Louis after  two years. Maybe he'll fall in love with me.

You never know.
