After the great war, many were dead many weaker fallen angels and angels. The top hierarchy of the devils and many purebloods were also killed and the count increased during the following civil war between the devils the Old Satan Faction wished for the flow of power to continue as it has from parent to child however due to who was next in line (a spoiled and wasteful brat) the New Satan Faction sought to bring this to an end, however, as a result, many devils died whole clans were wiped out leaving the previous 72 Pillars at a measly 32 the other 40 pillars were either wiped out by one side or the other, caught in the crossfire or worse.

Yet as time went on the damage was not forgotten the remaining pillars picked up the pieces and took control of lands that once belonged to other pillars. They did as devils were meant to, expand, plan, and amass for the future. However what if I were to tell you that the extinction of those 40 pillars has allowed for the possibility of something more? For the 72 pillars are some of the most powerful of devils acting as Lucifers officials that helped him govern hell, well that was until King Solomon summoned each of them one at a time and imprisoned them within the Ars Goetia. However, Solomon was only able to imprison the progenitors of each Pillar their children were left untouched but severely weakened without the original leaders of their houses, but they adapted as we all know. Some eventually broke free such as Asmodeus one of the four great satans who was mocked by Lucifer, Leviathan, and Beelzebub for his capture. But I digress and back to the main point of all this. What if I told you that before he died Solomon split apart the Ars Goetia into separate books and artifacts that while allowing the Ars Goetia to still possess power over the 72 pillars each contained one of the 72. Solomon being the wise king that he was implemented a failsafe of sorts to make sure none of the pillars should be able to escape, sure summoned with limited power under certain conditions but they would never obtain freedom unless all their descendants were dead. Now (Chuckles) that's a pretty good plan it would be a shame if......oh wait, someone already disrupted it. Well, Solomon was wise enough to implement limitations on this freedom. 1. the imprisoned Pillars can not gain their own bodies less they cease to exist 2. to obtain freedom they must find an individual of any kind magical or nonmagical it could be any sentient being that is highly compatible with the pillar and willing to work with them or strike some other type of deal that is mutually beneficial. 3. the pillar cannot take any major actions or make any decisions that would affect their host/pact-holder in any way unless they are given permission. Solomon was thorough like anyone would agree to this much less one of the proud Progenitor Devil Pillars.
