"Let's go out," Mark said, surprising Scott.
"Why?"
"I just want to," Mark lied. In truth, he had a very good reason to want to go out someplace.
"If we do a date," Scott said, "Then it should be cheap."
"Okay, then let's go somewhere somewhat nice," Mark insisted.
"Okay, where do you want?" Scott asked.
"I don't know," Mark replied. "I have to grade some stuff, but I'll think about it while doing that."
"If you have grading to do, then you should have already been doing it," Scott lectured.
"Yeah, yeah, it's just a bit," Mark said, getting up and going into their bedroom.

They ended up agreeing on a restaurant to go to, and Mark was buzzing with anxiety on the way.
He kept checking his pocket, to make sure that the hopefully-not-obvious box was there.
When they got to the restaurant, they were seated within a few minutes, and started talking.
"So, what's the occasion?" Scott asked.
"Nothing," Mark said, smiling. "Can't I treat my sweet baby?" he leaned close to Scott, pressing a kiss to his boyfriend's cheek. Scott smiled and hummed.
"Of course you can," he said.
Mark nodded. "There," he said. "So, do I really need a reason?"
"You never do things on a whim," Scott told him. "So you can't try to convince me that you wanted to come here just to come here."
"But what if I did?" Mark asked.
"But I'm sure you didn't," Scott argued.
They got their food, and Mark said, "Let's eat before we keep arguing."
"Okay," Scott said.

After they had both finished, Mark said, "I love you a lot."
Scott smiled at him. "I love you too."
"I wanna love you forever," Mark said. "I wanna be with you forever."
He took the box from his pocket, opening it and showing what was inside. "I hope you agree?"
Scott's eyes widened. "Well," he said, laughing a bit. "That would be why you wanted to come here." He looked at Mark. "Yes," he whispered. "Yeah, I agree."
Mark grinned, taking the ring out of the box and putting it on Scott's finger. He reached out, wrapping his arms around his fiance and kissing him passionately.

This was really short. It isn't even 400 words. But, I wanted to update it, and I didn't think that there was really much sense in making it longer.
Here's what the ring looks like!
