Part Two: Friends?

charli POV:

as avani and i walk down the school halls, we see one of the most beautiful girls at our school, cynthia parker. she's also reallyyy popular and anyone who hangs out with her gets their recognition. and her and chase hang out too which gives me a lower chance of having a thing with him.

"i know you're doubting yourself, charles. you're as beautiful as she is." avani reassures me.

"thanks, voni. but i'm pretty sure she has chase wrapped around her finger." i say as i open my locker to put my stuff in.

she shrugs as she takes her things out of hers which is right next to mine.

"hey beautiful." anthony reeves aka the guy who has a thing with avani says as he approaches us.

"heyyy handsome." avani smiles as she goes up to give him a peck on the lips.

"hey charles." he says to me. i wave back in response.

i am happy for avani, obviously. but it always feels so weird whenever anthony is around when avani is because it feels like i'm third-wheeling or ruining their moment just by my presence. which is why if chase and i were together i would feel this way.

"so, whatcha got after third period?" anthony asks as he gets closer to voni.

"umm.. i have s— study hall. yea for sure i got study hall. with— charli. right??" she says and gives me a look literally saying "agree idiot".

"umm, yea. we have a lot of studying to do. in the studying. hall." i answer. anthony's face fills with disappointment.

"oh um okay. maybe next time right?" he asks.

"yea i'll uh let you know." avani says and kisses him on the cheek as a good bye.

we walk away leaving me wondering why voni would lie to anthony leaving him really sad which kinda broke my heart. i had always thought she liked him so much she'd spend some private time with him.

"umm voni, why'd you lie to anthony about after third period??" i ask curiously.

she takes a deep breath and sighs. "i mean, i don't know. i was scared." she says.

"why would you be scared?"

"i was scared of him wanting to have... you know... sex." she answers quietly leaving me in a little bit surprise.

why would she think anthony out of all guys wants to have sex with her? i might've not been friends with anthony until she started dating him but i have known him since the seventh grade and he's a really sweet guy which is why i was so happy when avani and him got together knowing she'd have an amazing guy to go out with.

this also isn't really the first time avani rejected some alone time with him. especially lying that she'd be with me. he probably doesn't even like me anymore knowing she's always with me never giving them alone time.

"look voni, anthony out of all the guys in our school is literally one of the most sweetest and kind. and maybe if you talked to him about it he would totally understand." i advise her.

she nods and hugs me before the bell finally rang. i had history she had calculus. so we went our own ways to separate classes.

on my way to history, i see cynthia and chase heading to class together. it kinda teared me on the inside but there was nothing i can ever do about it. chase would never consider going out with me instead of cynthia. no guy would.

as everyone sits down they had obviously got their assigned seats next to each other laughing about whatever.

however a random curly haired boy sat next to me. i wondered why he would ever want to sit next to me out of everyone in our class.
