chapter 13

"So.. you wanted to tell me something?" Chan said following Felix to his room.
They both took turns quickly getting in the shower and were awkwardly quiet. Something they both weren't used to.
Felix heard the question but stayed quiet. He hung up his towel and plopped on the bed sitting there for a second.
'Why is this so hard for me?' He thought. Why was it so hard for him? All he had to do was say they used to be together. That's not big deal right?
But what if it was. What if the old Chan Felix dated was different from this Chan. What if this Chan didn't like Felix the way the old Chan did.
But there is no old or new Chan right? All he did was lose his memory. If what they had was real love, Chan would feel the same.
Felix patted a spot next to him signaling Chan to sit down. Chan sat down with the same curious face he had on since they got out of the pool.
"So, what is it?" Chan asked again.
Felix chuckled to himself looking down.
""You know what? I'll tell you another time. It's not that important." Felix said.
"Are you serious right now?" Chan asked.
"What..?" Felix said, surprised by his reaction. He expected a simple "okay" or "take your time," Chan always did that.
"What do you mean 'what?' You said you needed to tell me something and this whole time you were quiet and now it doesn't matter?" Chan said.
"Chan, it's seriously not that big of a deal, why are you so worked up all of a sudden..?" Felix said. He was calm but still confused.
"Felix, I tried not to tell you but as much as your telling me, I feel like you still have secrets that I feel like I should know. Look, I might be wrong but from someone who is suffering from memory loss, it's easy to get paranoid." Chan said. Felix could tell he was trying to stay calm but it wasn't really working.
"Chan, it's seriously not a big de-."
"You know what, forget it, Felix. I don't care." Chan got up and walked out of the room and Felix followed.
"Chan where are you go-." Felix reached for his arm but Chan aggressively pushed it off, startling Felix.
"Once again. I am someone who lost their memory. I trust you Felix. I can't have you just saying things 'I need to tell you something' in the most serious tone and then shaking it off like it's nothing." Chan said.
"Is something wrong down there?" Felix's mom asked from upstairs.
"No Ms. Lee I'm just going for a walk now." Chan yelled up but glaring at Felix.
"Chan what are you-."
Chan put his slides on and quickly slipped on a jacket and headed straight for the door.
"Chan!" Felix put his slides on to catch up to Chan but he already ran off to far from sight for Felix.
"No, ive got to get him, it's late and dark outside.."
Felix ran back to his room and got a jacket and ran back outside.
Felix lived in a relatively good neighborhood where not a lot of bad things happened. But he doesn't know how far Chan is going to go.
Felix pulled out his phone and tried to call Chan. It dialed for a bit and then hung up.
"Channie, come on.. not now." Felix said to himself.
He called him a few more times and gave up and just started looking for him physically.
Turns out he didn't go far.
Felix got to the park where Chan first met the boys since he got out of the hospital. He there he was sitting on the bench.
Felix slowly creeped behind him, he wanted to talk to him but at the same time he wanted to give him time. Felix didn't think he would storm off so easily.
"I know your there, Felix.." Chan said quietly.
Felix sighed and walked up to the bench to sit next to him.
"You should've known I'd come and look for you." Felix said and Chan didn't reply.
They stayed quiet for a little until Felix broke the silence again.
"I'm sorry I did that.. but can I ask why you stormed off so easily. Before this all happened, you never got mad that easily." Felix said softly. He chose his words wisely before Chan would get mad again. He seemed to have calmed down and Felix didn't want to ruin that.
Chan stayed quiet for a few seconds until Felix saw a tear run down his cheek.
"Chan.."
"I'm scared, Lix." Chan said, his voice cracking a bit.
"what?" Felix said, paying close attention the older.
"Im scared. I've been scared this whole time. I don't know who's telling me wrong and who's telling me right. Even if they have no bad intentions. And your the only one I trust and I can't lose you. Your all I have right now." Chan's tears came running down like a waterfall that was being blocked for to long.
"Chan.." Felix brought Chan's face to look up at him and wiped his tears. He stared at Chan for a little bit, his face was puffy and his nose was a red color he could barely see since it was dark out.
Felix smiled a bit. He didn't care if he was laughing or crying, his love for Chan's adorable face would never change.
"Chan... I'll tell you. I've been putting it off this whole time because I'm scared it'll change everything between us. And I don't want that. But, I feel like you deserve to know."
Chan's sad eyes turned into curious ones quickly and Felix smiled again.
"Chan... we met in 6th grade. I told you that, yes?" Chan modded. "Well, as you can see we got pretty close. And within one school year and a summer, you could say one got a little closer, and then the other. And even closer..." Felix looked away, remembering all the little memories they had together with every little detail.
Felix looked back and Chan but this time he had a soft smile.
"I think I get it.." Chan said, his voice a little weak from crying.
"Well... yea." Felix said. "So...-"
"And that's the best thing I could ever here.."
"What?"
"I guess that was real love then.. because, Felix, since I got out of that hospital, I felt something, every time I saw you. I guess I know what it is now." Chan chuckled.
"And what was so hard about telling me?" Chan said, in a teasing voice.
"I was just... scared I guess?"
"Well now you've got nothing to be scared of, because Channie isn't going anywhere."
And with that, Chan leaned straight into a kiss and Felix immediately responded.
