Stiles

I woke up with my head resting in the nook of Derek's neck. I knew that today was the day we were going to raid the base, and I wasn't ready for that. I could get up...or I can stay here. It was strange, but I felt so much safer when I was laying here, in Derek's embrace, it felt right. God, I sound so cliche and melodramatic. I shifted a little and placed my head closer to his chest. His heartbeat was steady and calm. I lay there for a few minutes until I heard his heartbeat quicken. He was awake. I really didn't want to go out and face the world, so I tried to calm myself enough to seem like I was asleep. I had my eyes open just a sliver though, so I could vaguely see what he was doing. His eyes slowly opened, and he looked at my 'sleeping form' and smiled. A sweet, not Derek-like at all smile. Then he tightened his arms around me and placed his head above mine and pulled me closer to his warm body. I sighed a little and I was pretty sure he heard, but didn't care. I tightened my hold around his waist and curled myself closer to him. I thought about our conversation last night, we were both so open, and I realized what he was going through. I wanted him to not be so hard on himself.

We lay there for about ten more minutes and eventually we both fell back asleep. We were ripped out of our peaceful sleep by a banging at the door. I rolled out of bed and looked through the peephole seeing Jhene staring through it like Edna from the Incredibles when Mr. Incredible came to get super suits for his kids. I chuckled under my breath.

"Just a second!" I shouted and haphazardly threw my clothes on, but all my jackets were gone and it was surprisingly cold for Arizona. I rubbed my bare arms trying to bring some heat into them. I realized it was probably a lot warmer outside but we had kept the air conditioning at the highest it could go. Derek went over to his bag.

"Are you cold?" He questioned.

"I'm fine," I told him. I tried to back up my statement with an assuring smile, but I shivered. I was normally always so warm.

"Liar," He said. He looked at me for a second and tossed me his leather jacket. I sighed, pretending to be frustrated with the fact he was being so caring, but I wasn't. I pulled the jacket on and tried to ignore how good it smelled. Derek went over to the door and let them in. Everybody filed in behind Jhene, who gave me a once over then looked at the bed. I blushed heavily and looked at the ground. She sat in the green chair in the corner of the room and pulled out her phone, texting me: "So you're in his jacket, and there is one SINGULAR bed in the room...Stiles spill!!!" I rolled my eyes and replied: "Dude, nothing happened lol." I assured her. She looked at me and glared and put her phone away.

"So what's the plan?" Cora asked looking at me. I guess I was the master plan-maker for the group.

"Well, the only person who knows the place well is Maliki,"  started, looking at him. "Do you remember the basic building logistics?" I inquired. He nodded.

"It won't be exact, but I can try," He replied. He grabbed a piece of paper that was marked with the hotel's logo and pulled a pen from a jar on the desk across from the bed. "The base is at a Wearhouse called Bailes Ironworks. From the outside, it looks like your basic rundown place, but Zeke, he built underneath it. Above the new extension of the place is a big room with all kinds of machinery." He drew a rectangle on the page and put small blobs inside of it. "This is where some of that is," He said.  "There are cameras in this room. Here, here, and here, are the ones we need to avoid," He said, drawing dots in the center of the rectangle. "Now there are three entrances," He drew lines outside of the rectangle. "This door is big and loud, so we cant use that," He said drawing an x over a door in the center of one of the sides. "But these two doors are fine. When we get inside we want to get to the vents," He said. "Those are here," He drew two circles. "Once we get into the vents, we got through the part where we are most likely to get caught," He told us. He then went into a long explanation of what was underneath the warehouse, and drew what looked like a maze, and two major rooms: One that was a lab,  and one was where they kept the hybrids.

"So we need to get to the lab, and to get to the prison," I told them.

"Why do we need to get to the lab?" Liam asked.

"We don't want Zeke doing this to anyone else, so if we take his stuff, or destroy it at least, then he can't," I told him.

"We can just blow it up," Jhene suggested with a chuckle. I laughed.

"No we don't kill people," Derek said. I nodded in agreement.

"We don't," I said.

Derek

Stiles' plan was coming together nicely. Much to Stiles complaints though, we were going to split up into two groups, one group going into the vent closer to the lab, and one for the vent closer to the prison (Maliki insisted we didn't want to be in there long, and if we split up we would cover more ground). As Stiles explained the plan to get to each location, I watched him carefully. I was noticing things about him I never noticed before. The way he bit at his thumbnail when he was thinking. The way his back curved when he sat. The way he tapped his foot quickly against the floor, so fast his foot barely left the floor. The way his tongue flicked across his bottom lip. The way he looked in my leather jacket. Damn, I loved seeing him in that, he looked so...cute, then again that wasn't a rare occurrence. Derek, what the fuck? I thought to myself. I couldn't become interested in him. I couldn't. Everyone I got close to got hurt, and even though Stiles said he didn't think that was true, it was. Wheres my Mom and Dad? Laura? They all died and that was my fault. I could of saved them. If I don't get close to Stiles, then I won't lose him. I can't afford to lose him. I took a deep breath.

"So whos going where?" Cora asked.

"Well..." Stiles pondered, running a hand through his soft hair. "I think Maliki should go to the lab, because its a bit more complex to get there. Uh, I think I should go to the prison-" He added and I cut him off.

"I'll go there too," I told him without thinking. He smiled warmly up at me.

"Ok, Derek's with me," He said blushing. Jhene raised an eyebrow at me and I glared in return. "Uh, Jhene maybe you go with Maliki, and Liam too, and Cora can come with us?" He continued.

"Ok," Jhene said happily. The girls walked out of the room to get ready, and the boys trailed behind them. Stiles paced around the room, worried.

"Calm down," I told him, a little too sharply. I felt bad for being so bossy. God, Derek what's with you?  He looked at me with his brown eyes wide and I felt an unruly pang in my heart. "It's going to work," I told him more gently.

"I just don't like this whole splitting up thing," He said sadly. He sat down on the bed and I stood in front of him. I didn't want him to be sad or worried. I wanted him to know it would be ok. I took his hand. Derek stop it!  I felt like I couldn't control my body anymore, because of him.

"It's going to be ok," I assured. He shook his head.

"What if we are too late? What if Scott's already a rider and there's nothing to do to turn him back?" He said, panicked.

"We would find a way to fix it, like we always do," I told him. He looked up from his lap and into my eyes through his lashes. A single tear rolled down his cheek and he furiously wiped it away. I wanted to hold him. He let out a shaky breath and got up.

"Yeah we will," He said. I knew he was pretending that he was ok.

"Stiles," I said. He looked back at me. Without thinking I pulled him in for a hug. At first, he was stiff and didn't know how to react, but then he fell into the hug. I held him tight against me. He sniffed and slid his hands around my back and nestled his head in the same spot he placed it when he slept. I closed my eyes and gave in to the relaxing feeling I got from holding him, mixed with the buzzing all through my body. "It's going to be ok," I whispered to him, bending my head down closer to his ear. I felt him shiver but decided to ignore it. "We're gonna be fine," I added. He nodded into my shoulder.

"I hope so," He whispered back. Just then we both jumped as someone knocked on the door. We opened the door.

"You guys ready?" Jhene asked.

"Yeah," Stiles replied, holding his bat in one hand in my hand in the other.
