It was just another day at Karasuno High, and for the volleyball team that meant practicing sets, spikes, and everything in between. Hinata and Kageyama were arguing, bickering over something or other, but that seemed to be a regular occurrence. Noya and Tanaka were..well, they were being a general nuisance to everyone, pushing and prodding in their usual teasing manner, but across the court, Yamaguchi found himself distracted by his phone, shuffling on the bench as he lazily scrolled through his phone; One could call it, typical family stress, except, it was exactly the 'typical.'
Sitting by his side was his good friend, Tsukishima who was quite happy to sit silently, sipping at his water bottle without a care in the world as he seemingly tried to deafen out the screeching bellow of his 'teammates.' Yamaguchi was never stressed, well, not really so after about thirty seconds of hearing his incoherent muttering and soft grumbles, the blonde took notice, begrudgingly of course. Peering over the shorter male's shoulder as his lips pulled into an unimpressed line.
"What's up with you? You keep squirming." His eyes fixed forward one again, watching the 'idiots' jumping around the ball, and with each jump, Tsuki was certain they'd lose around two brain cells. Yamaguchi laughed softly rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm just texting my mom, apparently my aunt has to move back to England with her husband for a while, for business and stuff so her daughter is staying with us." The freckled boy took a short pause, sighing gently at the vibration in his hand as he received another incoming message.
"She recently transferred here from Nekoma High so I have to show her around on Monday."
Tsuki chuckled at his friend's unfortunate situation; truly unfortunate.
Stretching his arms above his head with an amused huff, only zoning back into his surroundings at Daichi's beck and call. "Well, as long as she's not as irritating as Hinata and Kageyama I'll help you. Can't have you fumbling the tour, can I?" Following his friend's actions, Yamaguchi rose from his seat with a groan, joining the rest of the group with a chuckle.
"You know, she is quite a lot like you."
Across town, the topic of their conversation sat in her parent's car; her body was stiff, cramped, and covered with all her belongings. Her whole life squeezed tightly into the back seat of her parent's SUV as the gentle hum of the engine filled the silence. No one had uttered a word, not a peep and the girl was stewing in her own 'family stress', chewing on her lips until the faint tang of copper made her wince, becoming far too aware that she was indeed a little too 'in her own thoughts'.
Oh, how had her life changed so quickly?
Her mother was Japanese, and her father was British so, during her mother's pregnancy they settled down in London, where the pair met and stayed for a time. Being born in England, she had very little Japanese influence for around a quarter of her life, though her mother tried to continue speaking to her in her native tongue. When she was around eight years old, they moved, yet again and she attended middle school in Japan due to her father's business expansion and she obtained some of the greatest friends she'd ever had. The trio had hoped to stay together into high school and Nekoma High was within reach. After passing her entrance exam Lily attended Nekoma for barely a week before her livelihood crumbled beneath her feet once again, and she was forced to leave and attended Karasuno.
Hence, her current predicament.
To make matters worse, her parents were leaving her with her aunt and cousin, people she hadn't seen for around two years; don't get her wrong though, she adored her extended family and had longed to visit more often, she just felt a little sensitive, understandably overwhelmed by the whole ordeal.
