First Attempt

Chapter One

Nia

Beep beep, off goes the alarm. I yawn and reach for my phone. Ugh, i'm so not in the mood today. Hope a shower helps. First thing i do is get up and go to the bathroom. What i don't understand is why people don't have bidets, it's hygienic and toiletpaper is just dry.. anyway. Clothes are dropped and the water drips. After taking a shower and brushing my teeth, i then put on my work clothes, pet my cat that i apparently have and of i go. No time for breakfast.

When i arrive in front of the building, i see my colleagues, they look at me as i walk passed them, we nod heads. I come here to work and not make small talk. I've been working at this company almost 5 years now as the manager. So far my job as the manager has been going smoothly and that's because i'm good at my job. Do i want to go higher in the company? No, i like it where i'm at. Sure, being the manager is a lot of work, but it's also an easy job to do when you know how to do it.

As i walk in the office i hear a voice saying "Goodmorning, Nia" I look up and it's my boss, Robert.

"Goodmorning, Robert".

He smiled "Ah, how i missed your serious self. Good to have you back, i hope you enjoyed your vacation days"

I smile "I have and i'm glad to be back".

He laughs "Well, i'm happy to hear that because we got a lot of work to do and before i forget, i hired someone new".

Looking confused "What do you mean you hired someone new and why wasn't i notified?".

Robert smiled "I'm notifying you now, Nia. Don't worry, i made this decision because i know it's good for the team I also didn't want to bother you since i know you wouldn't enjoy your vacation that way. You workaholic you".

I sighed and told him that i understood but to include me in the future. He smiled and agreed.

"So who is the new hire?" I asked.

Robert opened his mouth and then looked behind me and said "Speak of the devil"

I turn around and see a 5'6 figure with long, straight, brown hair walking our direction. Her skin is a bit pale, her plump lips red and i don't think she has lipstick on. She walks to her cubicle and sits on her chair.

"Shall we make acquaintance?" Robert said as he walked toward the red lipped female.

"Hi, Elijah. Goodmorning" Robert says while smiling.

Elijah looks up from her seat, smiles and says "Hi, Robert. Goodmorning to you, too".

She then looks over to me, stands up and introduces herself to me while reaching out her hand to shake mine. I mimic her behaviour.

"Great, that's settled then. I'm going to leave you two at it" and off he went.

As i was turning back to Elijah i noticed that we were still holding hands.

Elijah looked at our hands and let go "I'm sorry" and smiled shyly.

I told her it was oke and smiled.
"Is everything going oke, did the others explain everything to you?" I asked.

She nodded "Yes".

"I see" i said. We just stood there.

"Uhm, i better get back to working then. Unless you need me that is" she said.

"Back to work it is, then" i answered.

As i turned i stopped and told her that if she needs anything that she can come by my office and then i walked away. As i walked i heard her saying

"I will, thank you".
