Chapter 3: Caught

*(Y/n) POV*

Yay.... another day of keeping my secret from everyone. I woke up that morning recalling the encounter with Saiki. Oh yeah, he turned out to be a psychic as well. I'm not sure of the extent of his powers but I already know its mind-reading and transforming like me. As I made my way over to my bathroom, something caught my eye. Taking a closer look I realized it was a photograph.

When I picked it up I saw that it was a picture of my family, but part of it was cut out right where a man was standing. I turned my head from the picture and hastily put it back, I did not want to think about that man. I finished getting ready for school and said my goodbyes to my mom and her boyfriend. Hiding behind the bushes I, once again, turned into a Robin and flew to school.

*Saiki's POV*

When I woke up the voices flooded my head once again, barraging me with complaints and tired thoughts. I was making my way to school when I looked up at a familiar thought.

'Crap! I'm going to be late for class! I wish I wasn't such a heavy sleeper.'

The small Robin was going as fast as she could, speeding past me. Yare yare, she will be late. Three minutes until class starts, she won't make it on time, which means neither will I. I decide to teleport into a side street a block away from school and speed-walk to class. As soon as I got settled the bell for school to start goes off. (L/n) isn't he- The door opened and shut quickly and a hunched figure rushed to their seat, getting their items out.

So, she managed to make it, I'm surprised she was able to. She looks worn out though, she probably pushed herself too much, yare yare.

*Time skip till after school, (Y/n)'s POV*

After school I didn't want to go straight home, my mom wouldn't mind if I stayed out a little late. An image of the man missing from the picture flashed in my mind and I shook my head. Nendo had asked me to get ramen again so I transformed into a Beagle to slip past him, thankfully it worked and I trotted to a park with some other dogs in it. This way I blend in so I don't look like a stray and the dog catchers get me.

There was a nice shaded spot under a tree and when I lay down I felt my eyes beginning to close. I recalled the events earlier that morning when I pushed my body to the limits so I wouldn't be late. A little nap couldn't hurt, I'll wake up before dark, I reassure myself. As my eyes closed I began to dream. It was that man again, he was shouting at me, blaming me for his death. I closed my eyes as I tried to shut him out. "Go away!" I screamed at him and in the distance, I heard a slamming noise, kinda like a car door.

The noose slipped over my neck as I woke up, panicking. 'Nonononononono, this can't be happening! Saiki, if you can hear me, help!' I tried to fight back, growling, and biting at the rope. But it was useless, the humans looming over me, the rope around my neck, I couldn't transform otherwise my secret would be out. A heavy-duty blanket was wrapped around me from behind and I was picked up. Squirming and snarling, they brought me to the back of their truck and put me into a kennel among other dogs.

The car door slammed and it went dark, the other dogs started barking, and my panicking self was thrashing around, trying to get free. After a bit, I was worn out, so I laid down and howled. It was a sad melody, and soon the other dogs joined in. Together we created a beautiful, sorrowful harmony. Each of us sang of our sad stories until we had no voice left. Exhausted, we fell asleep in the back of the dog catcher van.

*Saiki's POV*

'Nonononononono, this can't be happening! Saiki, if you can hear me, help!'  

Wait what? That sounded like (Y/n). This can't be good, I'd better get over to her before something else happens. When I teleported to her last known location I saw a dog catcher's van driving away and faintly heard a sorrowful tune coming from it. Yare yare, so that's what happened?

I need to track that van so I can get her out of there. What was she thinking? Letting herself get caught like that. Using clairvoyance I located the van, it was next to a large, rundown building. The number of thoughts that flooded my mind when I teleported there overwhelmed me for a second. Using clairvoyance once more I saw her in a kennel, getting carried into a separate building, this one smaller than the main one.

I turned invisible and made my way carefully past the other kennels over to where she was. Once I was there I spoke into her mind. 'I'm here, right in front of you. Now, how did you get into this mess?'

She looked around confused but her eyes locked onto my general presence. 'Adding invisibility to the list. So I kinda, may have, totally did not mean to fell asleep under a tree and when I woke up they had already kinda got me' The Beagle told me sheepishly.

Yare yare, now how was I meant to get her out without the entire building noticing? That was too many minds to change, so what are my options?
