You'd brought Jay to meet your parents at their house. They invited you both for tea, so you both went! When you got there, your mum opened the door.
"Oh, hello darling!" You hugged your mum, "And you must be Jay!" she said. From the expression she gave off, she seemed to like him.
"Hi! Yeah, I'm Jay. It's nice to meet you." He was so sweet. Once you'd finished saying hello, you both walked into the house. You showed Jay around where you used to live and showed him your old bedroom (which was now an office-type room).
"Typical! I would show you some of my old stuff, but I guess they've put it in the loft or something!" You and Jay sat for a minute on the desk chair, you on his lap playing with his curls, when your mum shouted.
"Kids, tea's done!" Oh God, your dad was about to meet Jay. He hadn't moved from wherever he was when you came, so he hadn't met Jay yet.
"Come on." You stood up and reached for Jay's hand. He took hold of yours and you dragged him downstairs. Once you'd walked into the dining room, you both sat down next to each other. Your dad was sat in front of you, "Dad, this is Jay, my boyfriend."
You looked at Jay and blushed. It felt weird saying you were going out, you never knew why. Your dad stood up and shook Jay's hand.
"It's nice to meet you," your dad said. Jay looked so calm, but you really weren't!
"It's nice to meet you too," Jay said with a smile. Throughout the whole meal, Jay kept trying to make jokes, everyone was laughing together, everyone was happy. That's a good sign. When you'd all finished and it was time to go, Your mum pulled you to one side, your dad doing the same to Jay.
"Sweetie, I really like Jay, he's nice."
"I like him too, Mum," you said, happy that your Mum approved.
"Well, I just thought you should know that I think he's a keeper," Your Mum said with a wink.
"Me too," You and Jay walked away from your parents and stood together.
"Well, it was great to meet you!" Jay said.
"It was great to meet you too," Both your Mum and Dad smiled. Wow. On the way home, you were talking. Walking down the street, holding hands, discussing what your parents had said.
"Mum said that she thinks you're a keeper!"
"Good! I hope I am! Well, your dad said that he likes me, but if I ever hurt you then I'm dead! Not that that'll ever happen, I love you too much." Jay smiled and kissed you.
"I love you too."
