Best friends

Chapter 25

Minho POV:

The sound of breaking dishes echoed throughout the room, my mother stood in the doorway with a shocked expression on her face.

"Shit! Mum I can explain..." I stuttered out as Shay stood up his face bright red, I pulled my trousers back up fastening them as we both went over to help pick up the broken ceramic the silence was enough to kill anyone. I could feel the awkwardness, not just between me and my mum but between me and Shay as well. Out of nowhere, my mum put her hand on mine.

"Minho... are you gay?" she asked wearily almost as if she already knew the answer. I nodded in response.

"But I was going to tell you. This wasn't how you were meant..." She cut me off before I could finish embracing me into a hug and I was taken back by this, I don't know why I wasn't expecting this. But then she opened her arms again inviting Shay into the hug we all stayed there for a few minutes.

"So are you going to tell me about you two then?" She asked with a laugh.

"Well we've known each other for a while and we text a lot at first until he moved to our school and we just get closer due to that. We testing the waters first before making anything official. So, mum, this is Shay and Shay, this is my mum." I stated as Shay smiled at me as I reached for his hand.

"It's lovely to meet you mam." Shay said shyly. Before he knew it my mother had dragged him into yet another hug. 

"Thank you for making my son happy than I've seen him in a long time. Now you're in my son's life you're considered part of the family." She said to him cheerfully. I felt tears begin to form in my eyes as it all hit me that my mum was accepting me for me and didn't care that she might not have grandchildren she was just happy to see me happy.

When I checked my phone I realised me and Shay needed to get back to school before the guys blew up my phone about the fact I was stealing Shay from them.

"Mum we need to go and get back to school now, are you going to be okay?" I asked.

"Of course I am, you two love birds be off." She said walking us to the front door." Oh Minho, don't forget to invite him round for dinner sometime." I smiled at her knowing she was being genuine as I set off walking back to school with Shay. 

"Well, that went well." I said and Shay nodded," Don't worry she loves you I can tell." I assured him whilst slipping my arm around his waist. 

Before long we were back at school and it was lunch, the group were already sat in our usual places, we made our way over sitting down.

"Do we even wanna know what took you two so long and means you've only just got back? Hyunjin joked as Y/N hit him in the chest. Ash couldn't help but burst out laughing as we have all learnt they are way too awkward for situations like this.

"My mother." I responded shooting both Ash and Hyunjin a look, causing them both to stop laughing immediately.

"Oh, what happened?" Y/N asked completely disregarding the two idiots they were sat in between. 

"She walked in on us and I ended up coming out to her that way." I responded feeling Shay bury his face as it grew a deep shade of red. 

"How did she take it?" Changbin asked.

"Honestly really well, she hugged us both and told Shay that since he's part of my life he's part of the family and told me I had to invite him round for dinner at some point." I saw the group's faces light up as I said it went well, showing me that they were all happy for me.

"That's amazing man." Hyunjin said as the whole group made their way around to form a huge group hug.

The rest of the day went pretty normal after school we decided to all go back to Y/N place and hang out for a few hours.
