mattia smooths his hands down the small of kairi's back, rocking him back and forth gently under the soft pink light and to the rhythm of lo-fi music playing in the back. he whispers apologies in his ears, each and every one of them being so genuine. he tries to explain himself to the best of his ability "i was confused, kai" mattia fights back hot tears pooling in his eyes. "you were the first guy i've ever caught feelings for, it was hard for me to come to terms with everything"

kairi doesn't respond. he just wraps his arms around mattia's neck, crying desperately into his shoulder. "i promise i'll never break your heart again, angel" and with that, kairi nods gently against mattia's neck pressing an open mouth kiss to his left cheek. "i had a bad dream..."—"i thought you killed yourself, mattia" he huffs, tightening his grip around the younger. "i know, kairi, and to be honest, i was thinking about it" mattia admits, "but i thought about how bad it would affect you..."

mattia's face turns red in a mix of anger and regret. he mourning hurting kairi. his confusion doesn't excuse his actions, however, he did feel this way.

"don't hurt yourself, mattia" kairi stares up at the younger with shiny doe eyes, he looks sad, relieved mostly, but sad. the younger stares back down at kairi, his eyes weighed down, heavy, with one tear each falling out the corners of his eyes. his lower lip quivers and kairi quickly takes action, trying to kiss the boy's sorrowfulness away. 

and they sit like that for a while. on the edge of kairi's bed kissing, as teenagers who are in love should. the lo-fi music in the background seems to fade away as they each become drowned out in the company of one another. mattia holds the tip of kairi's fingers, playing with them as they stare into each other's eyes. kairi smiles, mattia smiles back. he's never seen mattia smile before. he thinks he should do that more, he's pretty.

kairi thinks mattia is pretty.

mattia's cheeks blush. kairi's eyes sparkle. mattia kisses kairi. kairi kisses back.

it's nice.
