"Daniel James Howell," Phil straightened up and took a deep breath, "will you marry me?"

He bit his lip before sighing and running a hand through his hair, taking a moment to pace around a little before repositioning himself in front of the mirror. He straightened up again and tried it once more in a different tone.

"Dan," he said again, gulping, "will you marry - oh fucking tits crap Jesus fuck how do people even do this?"

His refelction didn't answer. Phil took a breath in and a breath out and shuffled from foot to foot, trying to look relaxed and in the zone. He could do this.

"Hey, Dan, will you marry me?" He tried again. "Please?"

He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. If he couldn't say it in front of his own reflection, how was he supposed to say it to Dan?

He cleared his throat, shook his limbs a little and stretched his neck, preaparing for one final shot.

"Dan Howell," he said determinedly, "will you - "

At that point the door to the bedroom opened, making Phil jump two feet in the air like a greyhound out of the trap. Dan laughed, his melted chocolate eyes mildly confused. Phil half smiled.

"Scared the hell out of me, you did."

"Sorry," Dan chuckled. "Were you...talking to yourself?"

"Well - yes, yes I was. I was just admiring this new shirt in the mirror."

Dan rolled his eyes and huffed with amusement. "Okay then. I was just going to say, remember last year and we went walking up that hill but then we got to the top and it was all foggy and you couldn't see anything and we were really disappointed?"

Phil nodded. "Yes. I remember it vividly because we were very cold and very tired and you were really pissed off that the view was crap."

"Yeah. That. Well, I've got Zoe on the phone right now and she, Alfie, Louise and Joe are climbing the same hill tomorrow. The weather is set to be excellent and they were wondering if we would like to come?"

Phil raised his eyebrows and thought about the offer. That would buy him a little more time to gather himself. He still hadn't figured out when or what he was doing conerning proposing to Dan.

"That sounds like fun," he agreed, still slightly flustered. Dan smiled and put the phone to his ear.

"He said that would be great, Zoe...yeah...okay then. We'll see you tomorrow...love you too, Zoe. Bye."

He hung up and slipped the phone into his back pocket, going wrap his arms around Phil's shoulders. "We're meeting them at eleven o'clock in the car park at the bottom of the hill...are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Phil put his hands on Dan's waist and smiled. "I'm fine. Just jumpy today." There was a pause, and Phil took the silence to study Dan's lovely little face...those soft, happy eyes, winning smile...everything about him was perfect to Phil.

"Hey," he said eventually, "what time is it?"

Dan pulled his phone out of his pocket. "Seven o'clock."

"When do you want dinner?"

Dan shrugged and planted a kiss on Phil's lips, shortly followed by his jaw and then his neck. "I don't know. How about in..." he pulled back for a second, "say, thirty, forty five minutes?"

Phil raised his eyebrows. "Forty five minutes huh? In forty five minutes, you could eat dinner twice."

"Or...three times."
