Once again, dad started up the car. Emma was asleep when I got in. So, I decided to wait to give the candy to her. Mom fell asleep after about 15 minutes, as well. It was getting dark outside. I looked at the time and it was 11 pm. I laid my neck on the seat belt and put the blanket on me. I started to feel tired, but I couldn't go to sleep. Everything that happened today was rushing through my mind on repeat. I can't believe I saw my godfather again; it has been so long. He looked so sad after I gave him that rude look and now I feel really bad. I wish I could see him again to apologize. Ugh..... I need to stop thinking about this. I fell asleep after a few minutes.
"Brian," I heard my mom say. I looked up. It was morning time and everyone was awake except me and Emma. I looked at the time, it was 9 in the morning. "Wake up and get Emma up," my mom said. "Yes Ma'am," I responded. I sat up and told Emma that it is morning time. "Wha," she said. "Morning time," I said in an aggressive tone. I am always aggressive in the morning if I go to sleep later than 10 and don't have breakfast when I wake up. "Okay, okay," she says to me. "We are two hours away from Boston," my dad says in an appreciated and happy tone. "Should we stop for breakfast," my mom asked him. "Uh... Yea, sure," he agrees. "I got starburst last night when I and dad were at the store, it's for me and you to share," I told Emma. "The store," she asked me. "Yes, the store. We went there after we had dinner last night," I told her. "Oh," she says in realization. A couple of minutes later, dad parked the car at a small restaurant. It was called, "American's Cafe" and looked a lot like "IHOP". We got out of the car and headed inside. It was crowded. There were only about three or four tables that weren't occupied. But, there was a nice looking bar with about 5 stools. Only one person was sitting on the stool and seemed to be friends with the cashier. "This is a crowded place," I said. "Yea, but it is very nice," Emma adds on. We waited at the front of the cafe for about a minute. Then a nice looking waitress came and told us to sit near the window on the right side. She gave us the menus and told us to order when we're ready. "OK," we respond. I looked at my mom and I saw that she looked upset but she then caught me looking at her and smiled at me. I looked at the menu. "Oh, wow," I say. Every single thing on the page I was looking at was things I never tried before. They looked delicious. They had special names for the meals here. Like, for example, they had a meal with 2 pancakes, 2 sausages and a biscuit but called it The Medium. Apparently, what made this page of the menu so special was the type of pancakes they had. I never tried those kinds before. I kept looking and a minute later I turned the page. Only one thing caught my attention, there was a huge bowl of 'pancake cereal'. This restaurant is weird, I thought. So many special things that I never expected to be a thing. "I wanna try the 'pancake cereal'," I told my parents. "The pancake cereal," they asked me. "Yea, it's on the second page," I tell them as I point to it on my menu. "Ouuu, this comes with syrup on the cereal," my dad says. It does? Oops, I didn't see that part. I began to read the description. This beautiful bowl of cereal comes with syrup on top and a choice of two sides. "Oh, it does," I say. "What sides do you want," my mom asks me. "Sausage and bacon," I tell her. "Okay," she says as she slowly turns her head to Emma. "What do you want, sweetie," she asks her. "I don't know, I think I want 'the medium'," she answers. "Ok," my mom responds. The waitress comes back to our table and asks us if we are ready to order. "Yep, we are," my dad replied. "Alright then, what can I get yall," the waiter asked. "Well, I would like the deluxe with a glass of apple juice and a small cup of coffee," my dad tells her. "Mhm," the waitress responded. "I would like the medium and a glass of milk," Emma tells the waitress. "Okay then," the waitress said with a smile. "And, I would like the pancake cereal with sausage, bacon, and a glass of apple juice," I tell her. "Alright, and you ma'am," the waitress asks my mom. "I would like the deluxe with a cup of coffee," my mom replied. "Alright," the waitress says as she walks away. I look out the window. We're in the city, I thought. There were apartments a few streets across. Thank God, we're not in the country. A few minutes later the waitress came back and delivered our drinks. "Wow, that was fast," I said to my mom as the waitress left. "Yeppers," my dad said. My dad is the kind of guy who is serious most of the time but will act as the fun type of guy when we are hanging out as a family or with friends. My sister looked out the window and made a scared expression. "What's wrong, are you okay," I ask her. "Mmm," she says still staring directly outside. I turned my head to look at her in the eye. "What," she yelled at me in frustration. "Jeez, I am sorry," I say. "Mhm," she says. "Now, Emma," my mom says in a calm voice. "Honey, that's not nice to talk to your brother like that," she says. "Well, it's not nice for him to put his head in my face like that," she says. "Alright, fine. You guys, don't do that to each other." "Yes, ma'am," Emma says and then turning to me to say the same thing. "Okay, I am sorry," I say. A minute later, the waitress comes and delivers our food. "Alrighty then," my dad says expressing happiness. "Enjoy," she says as she hands us all of our food and walks away. "This looks good," my mom says. The cereal looked horrible but I think that it might taste good. I tried a scoop of it. "Mmm," I say with pleasure. This cereal was delicious. A few minutes pass and dad's phone rings. "Hello," he answers. He gets up and goes outside to continue the call. "Well, I wonder who that is," I say. "Yea," Emma agrees with me. "I don't know, but you guys finish up. We need to get to the house," mom says. "Okay." "Alright." A minute passes and dad comes back to the table. "Well, good news," he says as he sits down. "The movers arrived at the house and are going to start moving the furniture inside." "Aw, nice, that's excellent," I say. "Yep," he replies. We eat our breakfast as fast as we can and in about 10 minutes were done. "Hey, I have a question," mom asks the waitress as she comes to pick up the dishes. "Yes ma'am," the waitress responds. "Could we have 8 lunch burritos to go," she asks her. "Yes, ma'am." "Alright," mom says as she stands up from the table. We went to go wait near the door. After a little while, the cashier told us to come to the bar. We went, paid for our meal and the take out burritos and got the burritos in return. We headed outside and got in the car. It only took about thirty minutes until we had to go get more gas. As we got to the gas station, there were only two people there. We got the gas quickly and then got back on the road. I fell asleep again after a few minutes.
