~[A/N] I am deeply sorry for the late update, I wasn't doing very well mentally so I had to take a break. Anyway, I hope you accept this chapter as an apology gift :)
"Well done," Mishra praised, grinning at the black and white footage on the monitor in front of him with hunger in his eyes, "you proved your loyalty, Ronnie, I'm proud of you."
"Thank you," Khalid almost choked. Following the boss's gaze, he watched Kabir sitting still, directly staring at the camera as if he knew they were watching him. His brain was spinning inside his skull, trying every possible scenario to get him out of there as soon as possible.
"Now, come with me," Mishra commanded, "let's see what the shadow has to offer us."
Gulping, Khalid hesitantly followed him toward Kabir's lockup cell, he couldn't tell what was going through the boss's mind, and he certainly didn't want to be a part of it. The mere thought of it made his heart twist.
As a guard unlocked the door, Kabir realized that the 'fun' was about to start, but he didn't realize that Khalid might be involved. He could see it in the youngster's eyes as he entered the room, he didn't want to be there.
Another guard went inside before the door was shut again, holding a chair for the boss.
"There you are," Mishra hailed as he took a seat opposite the tied-up man, "I've been looking forward to meeting you."
"The feeling is not mutual," Kabir replied, locking eyes with Khalid who was standing stiff like a pole by the corner.
"Alright," the boss started, "I will keep this simple, I ordered my men to not cause any harm to you unless it's necessary, so I hope that you can return my good deeds by being cooperative."
"All appreciated," Kabir smirked, "but that cooperation you're talking about will not happen if I won't have something from you in return."
Khalid was slightly terrified and greatly impressed, he didn't know how, even in the worst times, Kabir was able to turn the situation for his favor.
"Do you realize that you're in no position to strike any deals, Kabir?" the boss scoffed.
Khalid wondered why did he use his real name instead of an alias.
"I am in a perfect position to strike a deal, Ganesh," Kabir said, "especially if you knew what my deal is about."
The boss leaned back in his seat, waiting for Kabir to continue.
"Nasir Sadik," Kabir announced, eyes glinting.
The name didn't ring any bell in Khalid's brain, but it definitely did for Mishra as he noticed the unmistakable shift on his features. Seeing the flash of triumph in Kabir's eyes, he knew that his mentor had got what he wanted.
