I stared intensely at the bowl of cereal that was placed in front of me on the dining table.
I don't know what possessed me grab a bowl- forgetting the spoon-, taking the milk out of the fridge, taking the coco pops cereal box out of the cabinet and mixing them up. I didn't feel hungry and I certainly don't like coco pops, they get soggy and mushy within a few minutes. I was in a bad mood already from waking up to find out mother nature finally decided to come around and bring along with it pain. A lot of pain. Not only did I have to start my periods, the weather wasn't too pleasant outside and the thunder wouldn't allow me to sleep.
Periods and thunder really effected me.
I did not plan to wake up at 5:37 in the morning but after the lightening that awoke me, sleep never came to me again and on top of the horrid noise of thunder, I had to find out I started my periods so due to pain and boisterous noises I- unfortunately- could not get back to sleep. Time did go by quickly though, I can hear the sounds of footsteps coming from upstairs of my sibling being awoken by one another.
I turned my head so I could look at the clock on the wall; it read 6:47. I let put a sigh of relief as I wouldn't have to just sit around and kill time to wait for my siblings to get ready. One of my stupid ways to kill time was to put coco pops in a bowl and try to digest it. Not exactly an ideal way of killing time, but hey- I was extremely bored!
I pushed my chair back and stood up, grabbing the soggy-cereal filled bowl and dumped it in the sink. I still needed to go upstairs to change my clothes and brush my hair since I just washed my face, brushed my teeth and came downstairs to 'kill time'. I stroll out of the kitchen into the hallway then make my way to the staircase. I really do not feel like climbing up the stairs- too much energy consumed. I trudge up the stairs and as soon as I am on the first floor, I am met with my seventeen-year-old brother, Felix, who is standing in nothing but jogging bottoms.
A smirk forms on his light pink lips as his eyes land on me. "Well, if it isn't November up early in the morning looking as bright as the sunshine."
I brushed past him, completely ignoring him and walked across the landing to the final staircase. Julie and I had the whole attic built so it was two rooms; one for Julie and one for me. Felix, Elliot, Ethan and the brother younger than Elliot, Jasper, had each one bedroom on the first floor with two bathrooms that Julie and I used too.
"What went up your ass November?" He called out as I began to walk up the stairs while wincing as pain shot through my stomach and made me clutch my stomach while bending over. It was like this every month for at least six days, my periods always came in a package deal with severe stomach pains.
"Bloody hell..." I muttered as I recovered from the pain and stood up properly, straightening my back using the banister to help me.
Instead of continuing to climb up the stairs, I sat turned around and sat down on them. While sighing, I closed my eyes and took steady breaths.
"Um...November?" Felix's unsure voice cut through the sound of my breathing. I opened my eyes to see him looking at me with a mixture of confusion and worry etched on his face. "Are you okay?"
"Does it look like I'm okay?" I snapped at him without thinking and he put both his hands up. That is another thing about my period package deal, I also get mood swings which make me look as though I am bi-polar. Guilt started to swarm into me as I comprehended what he said. "Sorry, um...I started my periods this morning and...well...you know how it is."
