I remember the first day I started my periods very vividly.

Julie had started her periods a month before me and by the way she always started complaining the days, she was on her period about pain, I didn't want to start my periods at all- in fact- I was deathly afraid of starting my periods but the day had to come and it was just a few day before Julie and I's thirteenth birthday.

The first thing I did, when I found out I, unfortunately, started my periods was cry.

I ran to my mum who gave my a hug and kissed me on the cheek. "Oh hunny!" She gasped. "You're finally becoming a big girl!"

I knew about periods from before but I was certainly not ready for them. Mum gave Julie and I a long talk about them and explained the whole situation before hand. I was absolutely horrified when Julie started hers, she was more angry than upset but within a few days she go over it. I was so sure I wasn't going to get over it ever. But I did in the end !anyway.

"But mum!" I cried and Julie came rushing into my room as confusion set itself on her face. "I don't want it to start!"

"What to start?" Julie asked, puzzled by why I was crying so frantically. "Did someone start bullying you?"

"No, July darling, no one is allowed to bully anyone." Mum smiled at her. Mum always called Julie by her real name July, much to her dislike. "November started maturing." Mum stated.

Julie let out a snicker as she stared at me. "Why are you crying? There's no reason to cry." She twirled a strand of her blonde hair around her finger.

"You are such a dumb bitch!" I shouted at her and scowled at her.

"November!" My mum gasped. "Who on earth did you learn those words from?" My mum probably knew the answer, one of my older brothers because no matter how much she told them to stop using 'foul language' they would carry on using them. My mum gave me a disapproving look, "Do you want me to put a bar of soap in your mouth, November?" Her perfectly shaped eyebrows raised.

"No!" I shook my head hurriedly. "But mum, we're thirteen! Thirteen! And yo still treat us like babies."

"I don't treat you like babies," My mum said to me as she tucked a strand of her long blonde hair behind her ear. "Even when you grow up to become more older, I will never allow you to use these kind of words, understood?" She asked and I nodded. "Okay," She smiled and gave me a kiss on my cheek, "Let me go downstairs and teach your brothers a lesson."

Both Julie and I giggled because we loved watching our brothers get in trouble Mum rolled her grey eyes, stood up and walked out of my room. Julie and I followed her down the stairs.

It turned out my mum didn't end up doing anything to my brothers, she just went downsatirs and began cooking pasta in the kitchen. Instead of arguing with her, I sat down and played on their play station with them, forgetting that I was upset and crying about a minute ago.

While my periods lasted, there was always pain on the first and second day, on the third day, the pain died down a bit and on the fourth day, there was hardly any pain. My periods, thankfully, never lasted too long. For this, I was glad.

I had just finished my periods today and I was happy, because today, after school was one of the days Julie and I went to dance but because the past few days I was in pain due to my periods, I sat on the benches and watched Julie as she danced.
