"can i ask you something, ms...?"

taehyung and the nurse both went outside the room after fixing sora. the boy was curious about the girl's condition.

"you can call me ms. kim. what is it that you want to ask me?" the nurse asked taehyung. "i'd like to know more about sora's condition," he stated. "how and when did she get sick? what's her sickness? can't she get cured?" taehyung asked multiple questions. sora's nurse is dumbfounded by this. she then bursted into laughter after seeing the boy's enthusiasm in finding out sora's condition.

"i thought you knew about this already, you're her guardian after all," the nurse stated. "me and sora haven't actually talked in a while. this is our first time talking after a long time," he said in response.

"okay. to start off, sora has this cancer disease called, acute myeloid leukaemia. the cancer progresses quickly so she actually needs to get treatment right away, but that wasn't the case," ms. kim told taehyung. "when we examined her about eight months ago, the cancer already developed vastly. but that doesn't mean we won't treat her, we did. we treated her as soon as possible," she added.

"she had six months of chemotherapy. but, instead of getting better, she only got worse. you see, chemo is like a double-edged sword, it can kill cancer cells, but it can also kill the healthy cells in your body. sora already has a very weak immune system, so as a result, the chemotherapy was the one that's already killing her," the nurse stated. she looked down.

"sora looked sad. it was as if her life was already taken from her. she wasn't getting any better physically, she was also getting worse mentally. so the doctors decided to stop the cycles. as a result, we weren't able to reach the consolidation phase. it was for the better, though, since sora might die if they don't stop, not because of the cancer, but because of certain complications," she said. "sora also begged the doctors and her parents to stop the sessions. her parents were completely against it at first but they saw that sora was only getting worse."

"she suffered so much pain within those months."

"when they stopped the chemotherapy sessions, the doctor said that she would die around the first or second week of september. it's her birth month. she'll turn eighteen on the day she'll pass," ms. kim stated. "the doctor also said that if we didn't stop chemotherapy, her lifespan might be shorter than that. so it was the... i don't know if this is the term but," ms. kim stopped for a moment, "the right decision."

"thirty days..." taehyung said silently. "hm?" the nurse asked.

"she'll be gone in thirty days," taehyung stated, now audible. "unfortunately, yes."

"i haven't done anything nice to her and she'll be gone so fast? whatever happened to waiting for me?" taehyung asked himself. he was tearing up. regret filled his heart as he realized the unavoidable and unfortunate fate that was bestowed upon sora.

"i can't watch her become a literal angel as if she already isn't," he added. taehyung started to sob. "i can't possibly watch her sleep and not wake up afterwards. it's unfair! i can't watch her go and leave me! i can't let her go! i wouldn't be able to bear the pain," taehyung cried out. "please, ms. kim, i'm begging you! please tell me that she'll get better soon! please tell me that you all will make her better. please tell me she won't leave!" he pleaded.

ms. kim rubbed the poor boy's back. "she must be really special to you, huh?"

"she's more than just someone special, she's the first person i fell in love with."
