Digging

If you're walking through a mineshaft late at night, you might hear some strange noises. Mind, most aren't dangerous. But some are.

The normal ones are the snapping of wood, which means that a beam is breaking and you should get out. Another is the dripping of water, which means you shouldn't go any farther.

The thing is, both these sounds sound extraordinarily like two other sounds, so if you follow them, you may not live.

The snapping of wood sounds like the snapping of a neck or other bone. The dripping of water sounds just like the dripping of blood.

One that you most certainly should not follow is the one the sounds like the shovelling of earth. That would be grave diggers. We don't like to be disturbed.
