Veronica's POV:
Veronica reached into her locker to pull out her newest book. She couldn't wait to read it and she had a free period. She was about to close the locker door when she realized there was a boy standing behind it.
"Hello, Beautiful."
She breathed out forcefully annoyed. Why were all the guys in this school such creeps. She was about to walk away when he blocked her path.
"Woah Woah Woah where ya going?"
"Away from you." She replied coldly.
His friends laughed behind him. He turned red.
"Well, a girl with a pretty face like yours shouldn't be walking to class alone."
Veronica had had enough it was time to finally pull out her charm that had been hidden away. Time to be Sarah.
"Oh really!" She said giggled her voice heightening as she batted her eyelashes like Sarah did to make them come running.
"You would do that? For me?"
He swooned
"I would do anything for you, Darlin." She had him wrapped around her finger it was time to pay.
"Good." She continued "Then get out of my way." She pushed him backwards and walked away as his friends laughed and he muttered under his breath confused about what just happened.

"You here for the free period hon?" The librarian asked pushing her glasses up her nose.
"Yes, mam," Veronica replied before walking over to a chair and settling in with her book. Soon she noticed a mop of almost platinum blonde hair peering over her.
"Hiya Princess"
It was Davey.
"What do you want Davey?"
"Do I need to want something to come over and talk to you?"
"I'd been surprised if you didn't" She replied still pretending to be engaged in her book.
"That was quite a show you put on there, princess"
"Don't call me that and he deserved it. You do too."
"Mm, Karl was real embarrassed. Hate to see something like that happen to me after all I've done for you."
Now she was really annoyed at him she put her book down and glared into his brown eyes.
"Good now that you've finally put that book down why don't we find an empty classroom and.....talk."
"I'd rather die." She said now picking her book back up again
"Mmm, I see." He then snatched the book out of her hands, "Will you now that I've taken your precious book away?" He sneered. "Great Gatsby, you like rich guys eh?"
She rolled her eyes
" Give me my book back Davey"
"You know I'm pretty rich too. I could do so much for you buy you dresses take you places."
"I'm not allowed to date Davey."
"Do you really think your dad would you dating someone like me with perfect grades and manners. My dad is one of the highest people in the state."
"Give me my book back." She said now more forcefully causing some attention
"Shh, its a library you have to be quiet." He teased flipping through the pages. Veronica sighed back into the chair.
"You know I never understood the point of girls reading what's it gonna do for you in life other than cause false fantasies."
"Give her the book back Davey."
Both of them turned around to see a small boy with blonde hair and a busted lip.
"You really want to get in another fight today Rogers?"
"Don't be an ass, Davey give her the book." He seemed so confident for such a small boy
He handed it back to her.
"I'm only doing this because I don't need Barnes comin after me again ya hear and I don't want to upset the princesses." He sneered nodding to Veronica. He then strutted out of the library.
"Thanks," Veronica said smiling at him the book now back in her lap.
"No problem I hate bullies."
"So do I" She replied.
"I'm Steve" He shot out his hand. Veronica took it and smiled finally meeting a guy who wasn't trying to hit on her.
"Veronica"
"Oh I know everyone's been talking about you and of course everyone knows Sarah."
"I guess I forgot. " She muttered now flipping through her book trying to get the page back.
"I didn't mean to offend you or anything. Trust me I know what it's like to be in someone's shadow all the time."
She laughed. Finally, someone who understood.
"You mean Bucky? Aren't you guys like brothers?"
"Basically, he's kinda the only family I got, always takin care of me and stuff."
They talked for most of the period before Veronica saw Abbey run into the library.
"Roni! There you are you won't believe what just happened!"
The librarian shushed her.
"Sorry," she whispered quieter now she hadn't even noticed Steve.
Veronica cleared her throat directing it at Steve.
"Oh! Hi Shawn!"
"Its Steve we've been at the same school since the second grade" He muttered.
"Anyways." She continued, "Paul and his friends just invited us to go bowling tonight! You have to come they all want to meet you!"
"Of course they do." Veronica laughed.
"Please Roni you have to come. Everyone will be there it won't be the same without you! Plus maybe you'll meet someone special." She winked. Steve eye-rolled, she glared at him and continued, "Please!"
"Fine. But I have to ask my dad!"
"Yay meet us there at six! Don't be late!"
And with that, she skipped away.
"You really going to go?" Steve asked the pair had become good friends over the period.
"Yeah, maybe I'll meet someone special." She laughed mocking Abbey.
They laughed and before they knew it the period was over.
