Alex's POV
Thursday
"So wake me up when it's all over, when I'm wiser and I'm older..." I'm woken up with that song. It all better be over for me to wake up. Nothing, no one screaming in pain? No zombie apocalypse? No nuclear explosion making most of the adults disappear and leaving the rest of the adults blood thirsty and called ghoulies like from DayBreak? Right, school.
I still have that feeling from last night, I still feel like something big is going to happen.
But it feels like it's coming closer, I feel more anticipation.
I guess I'll have to wait and find out.
I get up and do my usual morning routine. Get up, have breakfast, shower, get dressed, brush my teeth and brush my hair.
"Titi, you ready to take me to school?" I ask and she nods, grabbing her keys.
"Let's go"
***At School***
"Hey, Alex," Kayla says when she sees me in the gym. In the mornings, my grade meets in the gym for breakfast.
"Hey," I reply and she starts getting excited. "Oh, I started reading this new book, it's about... Hey, what's up with you?" She asks and I shrug. "I feel like something very big is going to happen. And I'm loaded with anticipation." I say and she nods.
"Everyone, today we will be having a free day! You will go to each of your classes as usual but every teacher will let you do whatever. Go on laptops, play games, or just talk. But make sure what you do is appropriate!" The principal yells from the front of the bleachers.
"Is that what you were waiting for?" Kayla asks with a smirk and I shake my head. "I still feel like something's going to happen." I reply with a frown. "This is going to drive me crazy." I say in a crazed voice and she laughs.
We get dismissed and I head to homeroom. "Ok people, you heard what the principal said but try to read, please. If you go on the laptops, try to read an article or something. Or play video games, whatever. Your choice." Our social studies teacher, who is also our homeroom teacher, says.
I get up and grab a laptop. I log on and think, 'This is going to be a boring day.'
***5th Period***
"Heyyyy Alex," Derek says as he grabs me from behind. "Hey," I reply with a smile.
Derek walks back to his seat and keeps looking at me.
When I finally catch him, I give him a 'Do I have something on my face?' look and he shakes his head.
Then he keeps looking at me! When the bell rings for lunch, I pull him aside and whisper, "Why do you keep looking at me?" "Because you're pretty." He murmurs then realizes what he said. "No, I didn't mean that!" He says quickly and I play dumb.
"Mean what? I didn't hear you." I say expectantly and he shakes his head. "Nothing." And he walks away.
***At dismissal***
I quickly put grab my things and head to the front doors of the school. I walk out and start walking to where I usually meet my aunt when she picks me up.
I spot her and get in the car. "Hey, anything new?" She asks and I shrug. "We got a free day, today." I say and she nods.
***At Home***
"Titi, I feel like something really big is going to happen." I say to her. "Really? Maybe this is God's way of telling you that something's going to happen." She replies and I shrug.
