Living Dead

Chapter 2

It all happened in slow motion. The man seems to be lifting his arm to grab his girlfriend, next thing you know he is a taking a big chunk out of her neck. All that I could hear was screams as people try to get him off her.

I quickly grab Stephs and Olivias arm pulling them to the back exit. Sam is in front of us I guess checking if the coast was clear.

"A, what is going on? What did you see?"  Steph begins to question, trying to pull her arm from my grip. We finally hit the alley way behind the bar, all that is we could hear is the sound of sirens.

"I cant get a hold of your father. I have to believe he has been compromised, Ms. Olivia." Sam informs Olivia as he walks back from talking on the phone. This snaps Olivia out of her shock.

"What about Xavier o--or--or Matt are they answering? W...what about Charlotte?" Olivia rushes as she begins to panic and hyperventilate as she begins to worry about her siblings.

I quickly grab her shoulders and shake her, "Olivia breathe, okay? I am sure your brother, Xavier is taking care of the twins, alright? You live all the way across town and by the sound of the number of sirens there seems to be a lot of accidents. My home is closer and its would be safer to spend the night there, okay? The phone lines are busy, right? "Sam nods. "Okay I have a satellite phone that might work to get in contact with your family."

Olivia quickly nods her agreeing with me. "But ma'am it would be safer to get you ho-," I quickly interrupt him.

"No, Sam, it wouldn't be safer. You hear all those sirens?" I don't let him answer, "well if what is happening inside is happening all over the city it is extremely dangerous to even be out here in the open." He glares at me but doesnt fight me on the matter.

"What is happening inside, A? what exactly did you see? "Steph questions me again, shaking me even harder this time. I quickly get her hands of me and restrain her.

"Steph right now is not the time or place to freak out on me. Lets get to my house and we can talk there, alright?" I look from Steph to Olivia to Sam, satisfied when they all nod, I quickly let go of Steph and begin to make my way down the alley.

As we get to the main street, on one side there is a police officer trying to arrest a man. The man looked crazed with blood coming out of his eyes and mouth. It seems the officer was struggling because his partner jumps in to help restrain him. On the other side, there were many fires and people running ramped.

"Stay down and be quick. On me, alright?" I dont wait for an answer before I  across the street, I immediately take cover behind one of the cars. We all finally get to Olivias car. Sam gets in the driver seat, Steph and Olivia get in the backseat, and I get in the passenger seat. Sam finally pulls out of the parking lot.

"What the hell is that, Ava? "Steph exclaims.

"Take the back roads there is less people there, so its a lesser chance of running into an accident." Sam nods letting me know he got what I was saying.

"A gun? OMG why do you have a gun?" Steph continues to question me as I remove my handgun from my waistband.

"A gun? Where did that come from? " Olivia tries to catch a glimpse from over my shoulder.

"Yeah? Why exactly do you have a gun? How did you get a gun?" Sam chimes in as he glances at me from the drivers seat. I roll my eyes as they all start to talk over each other. Gosh, right now is not the time for questions.

"All of you shut up! Right now, is not the time for question, alright? I will answer all of them when we get to my house. Now Sam keep your eyes on the road." It was an awkward silence after that.
