Izzy's P.O.V.
Kaycee and I have been watching a Keeping up with the Kardashians marathon ever since she got here at 8 this morning. It's exactly 12 o'clock now and-
"ITS 12:01." Kaycee shouts.
"Okay... And?" I ask.
"It's afternoon... It's time to call Chris!" She says excitedly.
"It's not the afternoon yet! Well, I guess technically it is..." I say sullenly.
"Here's your phone." Kaycee says handing me my gold iPhone.
"Hopefully he hasn't changed his number." I say wishing he did.

Finally I find it. The contact name under Chris Evans. I take a deep breath and dial the number. He probably won't answer.... Hopefully he won't answer.
I dial the number and then over the phone I hear
"You are not able to call this number on your phone. It has been blocked by the account holder."
"What the hell?" I say.
"What happened?" Kaycee asks.
"It said his number is blocked on my phone by the account holder."
"Weird... Here use my phone." Kaycee replies grabbing her phone out of her pocket and handing it to me.
I dial his number into her iPhone and it starts to ring.
My heart pounds faster with every ring.
A deep voice comes over the phone, "Hello?" I hear.
My heart skips a beat.
"Um... Hey... It's Izzy." I say standoffishly.
"Izzy? Oh my god hey! What's up?" Chris says excitedly.
"Um.... Not much." I say.
Kaycee shoots me a dirty look.
"Well, actually... Something happened today...." I say not quite knowing if I should tell him or not.
"What's wrong?" Chris asks concernedly.
"Um... I don't really know how to say it." I reply.
"Just say it. It's alright." He says.
"Mom left." I say beginning to choke up.
Kaycee leaves the room to let Chris and I speak privately.
"What?" Chris asks quietly.
"She told my she was going to visit Puerto Rico and this morning I woke up and found a letter." I replied holding back tears.
"Could you read me the letter?" Chris speaks in a soft tone.

I read him the whole letter. Every sentence of it.
When I'm finished Chris speaks:
"Izzy- I'm so- god, I'm so sorry."
My tears start flowing now.
"I just- I don't know what to do." I cry.
"Listen, I'm booking the first flight out there now. It's gonna be okay. I don't want you to worry, alright?" He settles me down a bit.
"Alright." I respond feeling a little better.
"I've got to get my stuff packed alright? I'll see you at around 11 o'clock tonight. It's going to be alright." He reassures me.
"I know." I whisper to keep from crying again.
"I love you." Chris says.
"Love you too." I say, almost as if I'm on autopilot.
And then we hang up.

I find Kaycee and hand her the phone.
"He'll be here tonight." I say.
"That's great!" Kaycee says enthusiastically.
"I guess." I say.
"Anyways, I was thinking about why Chris never called. You said you couldn't call him because his number was blocked by the account holder, right?" She says.
"Yeah." I reply.
"Your mom must have blocked it! Think about it." Kaycee says.
"Well, I don't know... It'd make sense I guess. My mom told me several times how much she hated him... What'd he ever do to her though?" I ask.
"Your mom had a cocaine problem right? Did he ever confront her about it?" Kaycee asks.
"I don't know, I don't know. All I know is she said he tried to take me from her." I say.
"Because of the drugs! He didn't want you to be around her because of them. He wanted you safe! That's why she never let you talk to him. At least that's what I think." Kaycee says.

Suddenly I feel like I've been lied to for a long time. Like I've been manipulated by my own mother.
But soon after, I feel terrible. I feel like I've pushed my own brother out of my life.
I've got to fix this.
