Year 7, January 3d
He approached her, walking briskly with his hands stuffed into his khaki pants.
Her heart skipped a beat.
“Hey,” Scorpius said softly, leaning against the wall, and brushing his lips across her head.
“Hey,” Rose muttered back, snaking her arm around his middle. She could feel the firmness of his chest and his abdomen as she laid her head on his heart. She could hear it’s steady, comforting beat, as he wrapped his arms around her, somewhat surprised by her sudden embrace.
Baddum, baddum, baddum, baddum, his heart echoed through her head.
“I missed you,” she whispered, still leaning against him. He tightened the embrace.
“It was only a day, you know.”
“Still.” He chuckled, and released her.
She was disappointed by the loss of contact, and she laid her hand on his shoulder.
“The library?”
“No.”
“...The lake?”
“No, too many memories there.”
“How about... the common room?”
“Too public. I don’t like PDA.”
“Alright,” he muttered, running his hand through his pale hair, “What about the Astronomy Tower? Nobody goes there unless they have a death wish.” Rose smirked at him.
“Sure,” she said softly, standing on her tiptoes to brush her lips across his.
It felt strange to be the one initiating the kiss, it made shivers run down her spine and tingles appeared on her lips. The soft, gentle gesture was too delicate, too reserved for how she felt. She was too afraid to tell him, so she felt the need to show him.
She felt desperate.

The astronomy tower was cold that day, the doors and windows had been closed, and there was a couch moved into the corner of the room. Rose immediately started heading towards it, guiding him there by his hand.
They collapsed in a heap on the couch, Scorpius cornering her to the inside of the couch, her head against his chest.
Rose was relatively tall, about 5’8’’. She had recently noticed that he was the perfect height for her, being around 6’4’’, he made her look small and feminine without completely dwarfing her. She came up to his chin, making their heights optimal for cute head and forehead kisses.
“Did you just bring me here to snog?” Scorpius asked her, smirking. She scowled.
“Shut up. You know we haven’t kissed in far too long.”
“Oh?” he questioned, “So a day is far too long?” She knew he was just toying with her, he was just being a prat.
“You know it is,” she whispered, leaning into him. He brought himself so his face was level with her’s.
And he kissed her, their mouths moving together in perfect harmony. He brought his hand up to rest gently on her cheek. He pulled away for a moment, teasing her.
“Would you... just stop it you prat...”
“Admit it. You fancy me.”
“I’ve said it over and over and over again, but still you don’t seem to believe me...”
