I still cannot believe this is all happening again. I just got used to being home from both the Challenge and Australian Survivor when I got a call from David about a week ago asking me if I could take his spot in the season since a family emergency came up and he couldn't compete. I told him I could but how would the testing process go. I was then rushed into testing and a last second preseason press video that no one here or anywhere besides David and Christian know about.
Now I am back in Fiji playing against some of the best players Australian Survivor has ever seen. I look around and I am starstruck. I see Jericho, Shane, Nick, Mat, and Zach. I also recognize a few people from my last season. I see Abbey, Harry, Daisy, and John and I immediately get both excited and nervous. I also see people looking at me wondering who I am. I did go through quite the transformation to be here. I know I wouldn't be recognized, but when we reach the mats, Johnathan doesn't even recognize me.
Jonathan: You! Tats! What are you doing here?
Brett: I came back to fill in for David and to prove why I deserved to win.
Jonathan: Brett?
Brett: Hi Jonathan. Everyone else, did you miss me?
Jonathan: Well this just got interesting. Do you feel like you have a target on your back because you won before?
Brett: All of us are here for a reason. We are all just as big of threats as others. Don't underestimate the quiet ones because they will sneak up on you.
Brett (in confessional): Yes Australia! Your American Black Widow is back! Last time I played a low key game. This time I am out to prove why I'm the best to have ever gone on reality television. You like the look? It's a bit of an upgrade courtesy of my boyfriend and personal trainer. Get ready Australia because I'm about to change up the game, stir the pot, and dominate with my social, strategic, and physical prowess. I've won the second most amount of money in reality competition show history for a reason.
We are talking about how people feel about previous seasons and can tell some people are not happy with other tribe members. I know Lydia still holds a grudge against Shane. I can only imagine how my tribemates will feel about me. We are handed a buff with our names on it and I just pray that I am on a good tribe. I open my buff to reveal yellow. I look around to see who else has yellow and I am stoked. We have myself, Jericho, Daisy, Mat, Flick, Phoebe, Locky, Jacqui, AK, Tarzan, Brooke, and Moana. I think we have a strong tribe and nobody on my tribe has a grudge against me.
We line up on the mat. I am pumped and ready to go. Jonathan puts his hand down and signals the start of the challenge. We immediately start pushing the sled and man is it heavy! I realize that my team is not as physically strong as I thought they were. The Mokuta tribe starts to pull away and I try to motivate my team to keep going. It seems to work because we begin to catch up at the wood collecting stage. We see Mokuta struggling to push their sled after putting too much wood on it.
We use that as our opportunity to try and catch up and maybe even take the lead. We make a push, but Mokuta continues to the end position. They begin to set up their fire first. We finally catch up and we are gassed. Mokuta sends Henry to get the fire and I contemplate volunteering to go, but then I decide against it. I need to show my tribe how committed I am to winning in order to secure my spot here. I do not want to be the first person out. I look back at Henry and notice him pick up what looks like a clue.
I hear Henry tell Mat there is a clue there and I need to make sure I am with Mat when he opens the clue. Locky and Jericho are taking the helms of our efforts for the challenge. Locky tells Mat to light the fire and I am noticing that our structure is not in the right position to use the wind to flame our fire. We have to go back out to get more firewood, but by the time we reach our firewood, we realize that Mokuta is already on their way to victory. The rope snaps and Mokuta wins reward.
