Once upon a time, there lived a powerful race that possessed the ability to see the lines of fate. This race once lived in hiding, traveling the world in the shadows, hiding their powers from the world. This nomadic lifestyle only changed when the fourth leader of their tribe created a pact with the king of a large country.

This leader sought out fame and glory, to use his powers and the whole tribe's powers for the sake of fame and riches. The tribe moved to the kingdom of Freitan and became acquainted with their royal family. The King used the Tribe's powers to predict lovers, friends, and enemies for his children and himself. Their predictions and statements were always spot on, many royal children were able to meet their fated lovers and the kingdom was made happy.

It wasn't long before news spread to surrounding kingdoms and the powers of this race now deemed Odete began spreading across the lands, finding themselves a place in every royal and noble family and their personal Readers. The Odete people became rich and powerful just as their leader had wished for them to be.

But sadly, this happiness did not last long.

In the kingdom of Cudreiles, a vicious and harsh king called to have an Odete serve at his palace to find a suitable husband for his daughter. He was sent a young girl who went by the name of Adreiles. Though young and therefore untrained, Adreiles possessed extremely powerful magic and was able to handle most things. The girl did as she was commanded and brought the man on the other side of the princess's string: a common carpenter. The king was beyond furious. He grabbed the young girl by the neck, yelling that she was a liar, that she was belittling his crown and kingdom. The girl was then sentenced to a lifetime of torture, but since she was so young, she didn't even last a week.

The king, unsatisfied with just killing the girl, decided to make the entire race suffer for sending her to him. He began his attack against the Odete people, turning their noble families against them, killing many of their people. This was the beginning of a war, the war between those who trust the Readers and those who opposed them, with the king of Cudreiles leading the opposition.

The war lasted years before it ended with the heads of the king of Freitan and the Odete chief. With the war over, the king of Cudreiles began his purge. This only ended when the cruel king eventually passed, leaving behind only a handful of Odete people.

In his place, the simple Carpenter that Adreiles had presented to the king had married the princess and taken his place. As thanks for allowing him to take the throne, the new king sought to make things right with the Odete people. Yet, the years of war and carnage had made their hearts hard and the refused to live in peace with those who had ruined their lives.

The new king decided to repay them with a promise to end the war.

A promise to let them live in peace.

A promise to never forget what happened.

The king then built a statue in the center of his capital. It stands tall, the statue of the martyr, Saint Adreiles, the hero who died thanks to the ignorance of the people, a beacon of light for the ones who died in the king's tyrannical reign.

To this day, the Odete people wander the lands in hiding. But what the people don't know is that not all of them left.
