Blake (American-Exchange); 2nd Year; Guard; 34Basketball season was at its prime. Both Johzenji teams haven't lost yet. Playoffs were about to begin, meaning practices were going to be harsher.
Terushima didn't see her unless it was in class. (Y/N) spent her free time either studying or practicing.
"(L/N)," Makki had seen her schedule, "we have an issue. You're traveling for All-Japan for karate on the day we go to Karasuno for their tournament."
That is an issue. If she won All-Japan, she had the chance to go to China and compete in the Junior World Karate Tournament, but going will leave the team without a captain and a point guard. Sure, someone could take her place but she didn't want to leave her team behind.
Makki stared as (Y/N) let out a string of curses, and they were rather colorful. The two talked about the pros and cons of her staying to play with the team or going to Nationals.
"I think you should go." Makki said. "A chance like this doesn't come and go! Plus, this is the Karasuno tournament. We can lose this one without it hurting our chances for Nationals."
The rest of the girl team had came and nodded in agreement.
(Y/N) stared at her calendar in her locker. Karate or Basketball?
- - -
She was arguing with herself the whole day. Karate or basketball. Her friends could all see it. Literally. They were imagining two little (Y/N)s coming at each other with swords while screaming either basketball or karate.
"Basketball's a team sport," Terushima spoke, "It's your last year and you won't be able to play the Karasuno tournament again."
- -
"I say you do the karate thing." Takahashi told her. "You'll be illegible after this year for the Junior whatever thing. It's a worldwide tournament. It means so much more than a school tournament."
- -
If you couldn't tell, (Y/N) was stressed. Many people were telling her to do the karate thing but Terushima's opinion mattered more to her than most of them.
Her own basketball team, including her coaches, along with Takahashi want her to participate. Terushima and the volleyball boys said basketball.
Both were her last years for something.
She had made her choice after practice had ended.
- - -
"You know," Daiyo blocked her kick, "our basketball has a tournament coming up, are you going to be there?"
(Y/N) shook her head, "Same day we leave for Tokyo for All-Japan."
"So, you're ditching your basketball team?" Daiyo was amused.
"Not like I wanted to. They all told me to go, including my coaches. The tournament isn't that big of a deal either." (Y/N) roundhouse kicked the male in the stomach.
