I got out of bed quickly, and as I looked at my lock screen, it said Friday, that means there's only one day left 'til our weekend fun. I know that I must catch mom and dad in a good mood so that they'll allow me to go up to Weatherhill. It's a steep place, so I think I'd have to go in my parents' "steep" mindset to reach my goal of them saying yes.
Dad knocks at the door.
"Breakfast's ready."
"Coming!"
I arranged myself in a prim and proper manner, combed my hair, applied face powder, and headed downstairs.
"What a very good morning to all!" I shouted.
"Someone's up early and happy. What happened yesterday, hmm?"
"Oh, nothing! Oh, wait, actually there's something. But before I spill it, I need to kiss you both on the cheeks first! Come here."
I kissed them awkwardly, knowing that they're not fond of me doing this. This is my first time actually asking permission for something as big as a Weatherhill trip. I think my odds became higher.
"So, mom and dad, Brent planned a surprise trip for me, and I was hoping if you could allow me. Please? Before you say no, I actually received an A+ in my biology quiz last Wednesday. So?" I asked them, hoping for a great response.
"Well, we were initially gonna say no, but because we know that you worked hard for that biology test, we're saying yes! Where are you going, anyway? Oh, and by the way, I heard the news. Weather's gonna be pretty rough, so you guys need to take care." Mom responded.
YES! I got the answer that I needed.
"Weatherhill."
"Wait, WHAT?!" Dad exclaimed.
"Yeah, but don't worry, we'll be super careful. Brent's gonna be there, Dad. Don't worry."
"Good thing I trust your Brent-y Brent. Now, go eat."
I honestly thought they were going to retrieve their answer, but luckily, I have the Brent excuse to save me.
I finished my bowl of lettuce and veggies and headed out for school.
As I stepped out of the bus, I immediately saw Brent in front of our building entrance. It's as if he's asking me to prom. Oh, how I want to kiss you right now, Brent.
"My baby got her parent's approval?"
"I'm going to have to give you a big yes for that."
"Thank you, Rose's mom and dad! We love you!" Brent shouted and the whole building almost heard it. I shushed him quickly.
"Sshhh! Oh, my goodness, Brent. Don't be loud!"
I saw Jess coming towards us with big open arms.
"It's a yes for me, too! Be proud, guys!"
"Really, are we really gonna doubt you, Jess? Come, let's go to class."
Jess and Brent headed for their room, and up to this day, I'm still mad at the registrar for not assigning me classmates with them. I guess things just don't play my way.
After about nine hours of lecture and thankfully no quizzes, it was time for dismissal. We met outside our rooms and Brent suggested we go eat at Quebec's Best again. He really wanted to have those sailor burgers for another time. I don't get how he can finish that burger in one sitting, that's so big.
"Let's go to... Quebec's Best!"
"Fine, leader!" Jess jokingly said.
We reached the diner and Brent immediately ordered his burger, while Jess and I ordered sriracha-flavored wings. You can never go wrong with wings, you know.
"This is top of the line wings, Brent. Do you want some?" Jess asked Brent with her mouth full, barely getting out her words.
"Don't talk while your mouth is full, Jess. C'mon!"
"Pleh!"
Jess kiddingly spit her food towards me, and through her skills, it reached my plate. Disgusting.
"Oh, so that's how you wanna play it, huh?"
"You two, stop. I have a very great suggestion, so hear me out."
"What?"
"We should order your wings and my burger as takeout! We can bring it to Weatherhill tomorrow!"
"Your mind is TRULY great, Brent. So, Rose, go order our feast!"
I was the one tasked to reorder our food for takeout. I had no reason to deny since Jess has been helping me with my mental problems lately. I have been having weird dreams in my sleep, and I don't even know if they're dreams anymore.
After I ordered our food, Jess and Brent thanked me then we left to prepare for our trip the next day.
"Don't forget the art materials, Jess. Those are important! I'll bring the cardboard and brushes. You bring the rest."
"Sure, big boy! Don't worry, I'm sure Mrs. Lopez will be starstruck when she sees our work."
"We haven't started anything, so don't get your hopes up."
"I'm just being positive here! Well, good night!"
I waited for the bus and headed home.
