"(Wake up)" A slaveholder said in Huttese, kicking the legs of Yamila Jecku, Syala Ibliz's mother. She lightly groaned in pain and opened her eyes, blinking rapidly until her vision was clear.

She got up onto her knees, she had been laying on the cold concrete floor that was only intercepted by a thin layer of beige cloth and her white, dirty, clothes. Yamila looked to her right and saw her young child and husband.

Syala wore her light beige & brown clothes which consisted of a dress and shorts. She was only 6, had to grow from a very early age as she lived in slavery. The life was harsh and ..., it required strength and perseverance. But she managed.

Kyualan wore light brown shorts and a torn up shirt. He was already on his feet and looked around the barracks at the other slaves, in which half we're gone but soonly returned to switch off their "shifts".

The slaves toke shifts, 12 hours working & 12 hours sleeping well sometimes. Some work every day and all day but they work slept in a different barracks.

The slaveholder harshly grabbed Syala's arm and dragged her through the barracks, into the outside. Her parents quickly followed behind him, knowing that they couldn't do much without consequences.
Fight back causes punishment, Hurting a slaveholder would cause you to be an example of what the slaveholders could do and what power they had over us.

Syala was thrown into the rough sand with her parents in toe. She knew better then to cry so she got up and glared at the slaveholder while dusting herself off.

The slaverholder walked past Syala as her parents approached her. A group of slaves walked past them, not even glancing at them.
