Pairing: Iwaizumi Hajime x Oikawa Toru

'It's been forever since I saw Iwa.'

Oikawa thought to himself that night. He tried contacting Iwaizumi after high school graduation but they were all too busy preparing for college. Oikawa had this forever crush on Hajime for a while now but he never dared to tell anyone because he didn't want to get judged or discriminated for these feelings considered 'wrong'.

At first, he couldn't believe it himself. Liking his best friend romantically just seemed so weird. But after thinking about it long and hard, he had to admit, he did. After some time in college and not seeing Iwaizumi, he actually missed him and wanted to see him again sometime soon.

Oikawa being the man he is, contacted Hajime the night where he felt ready and asked him to meet if they were free. The spiky-haired ace hasn't replied to him since last week. Oikawa was worried but he didn't question it further because he didn't want to be a bother.

After some time of waiting, he received a text message. Surprised but happy as well, Iwaizumi had accepted his request to meet up that weekend. Tooru couldn't wait till the weekend came. They haven't seen each other face-to-face since graduation so it'll be surprising.

The weekend finally comes by and Oikawa gets ready for the night. He wore a nice shirt and some nice jeans pairing them with new shoes. He decided not to wear a jacket because the weather wasn't that bad. He finally headed to the bar to meet up with his best friend.

The shorter man was already there before the setter so he greeted him with a warm welcome since it had been a long time for the both of them. To celebrate their meeting and their entrance into college (late, very late welcome) they decided to have a toast. They talked about life in general and about college, nothing in particular.

After some time they both drank more and the alcohol started hitting. Oikawa was a lighter weight but he drank more while Iwaizumi wasn't that fond of alcohol itself so he would drink in moderation. As Oikawa started doing and saying more questionable things, Iwaizumi decided that it was time to go before his best friend started dancing on the table, clearly out of hand.

Hajime dragged Oikawa out of the bar and paid for the bill since Oikawa was way too drunk to even talk properly. Iwaizumi was going to be a gentleman and bring Toru home but the pretty setter decided that he wasn't going to let go of Iwa until he calmed down.

At this rate, bringing Oikawa home would be much more complicated so Iwaizumi just brought Oikawa to his apartment instead. The whole back Oikawa would randomly spout nonsense in a slurred manner and Iwaizumi would just nod as if he had no idea what he was saying.

They finally reached his apartment floor and they collapsed on the floor, right before the door.

Iwaizumi was fumbling to find his keys that were hidden deep in his pant pocket and Oikawa was sitting on the floor, all slumped and jelly-like. Toru looked up at his childhood best friend as he struggled to find his keys and smiled lazily,

"Y'a know Iwa, you ought to gimme a chance..."

"Hah? What do y'a mean? Wait, let me find my keys first..."

Oikawa looked back down to his feet and sighed softly. He couldn't do it even with a drunken mindset. It was scary knowing he might lose his best friend if he didn't choose the right words.

Iwaizumi finally found his keys and finally opened the door to his apartment, shuffling in, trying to clean up a bit before helping Oikawa out.

As he went out the door, Oikawa was suddenly standing and leaning on the door frame, facing the night sky and staring at who knows what. Iwaizumi raised an eyebrow at him and proceeded to stare at the sky too.
