I had hoped that we would get a little sister to live with us, but I figured that we would adopt, not rescue Lizzie from an abusive situation and keep her from her parents until they gave up trying to get her back! As it turns out that took a lot less time than I thought, they gave up after a month, they where told that after about three weeks there was almost no chance of rescue.
"Andy?" I heard a small, tired voice coming from the hallway at six A.M.
"Yes, Lizzie? What is it?" I looked over and she was just standing there rubbing her eye, smearing her makeup without even realizing it, or not caring.
"I just, I miss Rose, I couldn't sleep, and did I just dream it, or did I kick Ashley in the nards?" She was still tired, so I motioned for her to come over and sit by me.
"We are actually going to pick up Rose in a few minutes, and no, you did not dream it, you did kick Ashley in the nards." I said chuckling at her choice of words, and my using them. Hearing that we where on our way to pick up Rose woke her up a little bit. She asked for her bag and I held it out to her,
"Third door on the right, the first one after my room!" I shouted as she started to turn around to ask where the bathroom was, mine was the only clean one. After she had changed into some real, and might I say awesome, clothes that where made up of a tank with the BVB star, a pair of black converse, black leggings, and my personal favorite, a Batman jacket.
"Wow, you look, nice." I said after a little bit, don't even say anything, yes I know that I am 26 and she is 16, but still! She really did look nice!
"Are you hitting on me?" She asked with the most disturbed face I have ever seen on her,
"No! No! Why would I-I mean, wait, what?" I really didn't know what was going on, so when we got to the bus I sat down on the couch and motioned for her to sit beside me, she looked like it would be awkward, but I don't think she really cared. She sat down and instantly looked tired, so I let her lay down on my lap, I started playing with her hair, which is very long, as she fell asleep I pulled up her sleeve slowly, so I didn't wake her up, to see if she has any new scars. She didn't. We hit a bump in the road and I had to hold onto her to keep her from falling on the floor, the sudden bump, and the pressure of my hands holding onto her must have woken her up because she looked up at me, still tired and went back to sleep.
"Come on, you need to wake up, lets go, I need you to find Rose for me." That last part woke her up, she jumped right up, almost hitting me in the chest, "I knew that would get you up, but we really do need to find Rose, she wasn't at her house, or the Hospital. Does she have a hiding place?"
"Well, there is this one place, but you have to promise not to follow me, okay?" She looked at me like she really thought I was going to let her wonder around this town alone with her parents hunting her,
"Fine, but you better call me if anything happens!" I said, still thinking that I would be able to follow her, until she started walking in so many directions that I started to think I would get lost. Then we came up behind a truck that looked a lot like the bus we came in, I thought she was still walking but when I got around the corner there she was, crossing her arms at me,
"You said you wouldn't follow me." She said with obvious anger, I had promised something and broke that promise, now she would never trust me again! Why am I thinking this! I should just be thinking about finding Rose, not about how good Lizzie looked today, STOP THINKING THAT ANDY!
"What's wrong Andy? Other than the fact that you followed me after you promised not to," her voice broke into my thoughts,
"Huh? What? Oh nothing is wrong, and I am really sorry that I followed you, I just didn't want anyone to hurt you." I replied feeling about two inches tall.
"Well, I guess that since you already know what I am doing you might as well come with me, but you might want to follow behind me, unless you want to be crushed by Fangirling teens." She looked like she was genuinely worried about me, so I decided to listen, this time.
As we got closer to a worn-down building I could hear what I thought was Fallen Angles, but we where still too far away to be sure. As we neared the cracked sidewalk the song changed, this time we where close enough to hear the song, it was New Religion, and I could hear that a lot of people where there, and that they where going crazy, then we entered the place, everything just stopped. Everyone looked at me, it took them about three seconds to realize who I was and in that three second gap Lizzie had moved in front of me, then they ran, right at me. I hate to say it, but Lizzie was right, they all looked about her age or younger, and most of them where fangirl/boying so much that a few of them passed out.
"Told you so," I heard a voice whisper in my ear, or close to my ear, Lizzie was not the tallest person in the room to put it kindly, and I was so tall, that she had to jump almost every-other word to be audible.
"What is happening?" I had to shout to be heard over everyone,
"This is why I told you not to follow me!" Lizzie had this little smirk on her face that only she could make. I had to run backwards to avoid being crushed, like she said. If only I would have listened, I wouldn't be in this mess. I looked around for Lizzie, but I couldn't find her, she had just disappeared into the mass of people. In about ten seconds, it felt like a million years, she showed up dragging Rose behind her,
"Run," she said as she grabbed my arm and yanked me out of the way, This girl is stronger than she looks! I thought as she dragged us both out of the building and onto the street,
"I bet you didn't notice the Dr. Who quote I threw in there, did you?" I did, but I was still out of breath. "Oh crap! This time I am not kidding, run, run like you have never ran before, but Andy? Slow down we are shorter than you!" She said and then I remembered that I had "Gazelle Legs" that gave me my height, and speed. The run back seemed to take longer than the walk over, and I could tell that Rose was having a hard time breathing,
"Asthma?" I asked her slowing down to match her pace, she was so out of breath that all she could do was nod. She didn't look very heave so I picked her up and carried her all the way to the bus.
