You were looking at me like you wanted to stay
When I saw you yesterday
I'm not wasting your time, I'm not playing no games
I see you
Gen smiled sadly, thoughts of his dead mother entered his mind. It had been years since he sang but for some reason, he had the sudden urge to sing, specifically this song.
Who knows the secret tomorrow will hold?
We don't really need to know
'Cause you're here with me now, I don't want you to go
You're here with me now, I don't want you to go
When Gen was little, his mother taught him how to sing. She would always teach him songs but her favorite was this one. She would sing it all the time to his father.
Gen sighed, looking up at the starry night. Everyone was at the village celebrating Christmas except him. Gen didn't mind, he had too many things to think about to focus on celebrating. He would only ruin the mood.
Maybe we're perfect strangers
Maybe it's not forever
Maybe the night will change us
Maybe we'll stay together
Maybe we'll walk away
Maybe we'll realize
We're only human
Maybe we don't need no reason
Maybe we're perfect strangers
Maybe it's not forever
Maybe the night will change us
Maybe we'll stay together
Maybe we'll walk away
Maybe we'll realize
We're only human
Gen continued singing, his voice angelic and soft, perfect for the song. After all, the mentalist had years of training in singing. It was part of perfecting the art of imitation.
"I didn't you could sing." Senku stated out of the blue, scaring Gen. "How long have been here Senku-chan?" His cheeks were flushed from embarrassment.
"Long enough to hear the chorus," Senku smirked, plopping next to him. "Never thought our mentalist could sing."
Gen nodded, looking at the scientist. "I'm not great but I do know how to sing a bit."
"Are you kidding me?! What I heard was amazing! You don't give yourself enough credit."
Gen blushed again, directing his gaze away from Senku and towards the tree. "What are you doing here? The party is back in the village." Gen asked, realizing the two were all alone.
"I could ask you the same. I noticed you weren't there, so I went looking for you."
"You didn't have to Senku-chan. I just wasn't feeling in the mood to celebrate." He cares about me enough to look for me.
Senku says nothing, looking up at the sky. "If you don't mind..." Senku starts, scratching his neck "Could you finish the song?" Gen looks at him crazily, noticing a light blush on the scientist.
Does he want to hear me sing??? Woah, who is this person and what have they done with Senku-chan?
"Oh, um, well, okay." Gen clears his throat, remembering the lyrics.
