"Oh my god—did you just see that?" Veronica squealed, practically jumping up and down. Betty's eyes followed Jughead, as he slowly blurred out of vision down the hallway. "I sure did..."

Almost immediately, a loud ringing bounced off the walls of Riverdale High and students had begun cramping the area.

When she had met Jughead the day before, he'd seem like such a shy and sweet guy—so unlike today. This Jughead bothered her for many reasons; one being that she didn't enjoy his flirting with her best friend. It wasn't cute at all and Betty didn't want a player like him ending up hurting her bestie.

He's not a player, Betty...you're just being jealous.

She shook her head to the thought. She was most definitively not jealous...no—there was no reason for her to want to have his attention—

But just imagine...Jughead's warm arms caressing your body...and your fingers  digging into his skin...and th

—No! There was no way she could be jealous—she had Archie, for god's sake!

"So...you think I should invite him to the party?" Veronica asked, pulling Betty towards their lockers.

"Hm?" Betty replied, awaking from her thoughts. She hadn't heard a word Veronica had said.

Veronica rolled her eyes at Betty, "My birthday party, idiot! You literally organized the whole thing."

Betty opened up her locker and gave an apologetic smile, "Oh yeah. I'm sorry..."

"So, should I?"

"Do what?" Betty scrunched her eyebrows in confusion. "Invite Jughead, you dumbass! Wow...you really need hearing aids."

Betty closed her locker after collecting her textbooks for history class and sighed, "If you want we can invite him. I'll tell Archie to bring Jughead over for the party."

"Thanks, B. You're the best," Veronica gushed and shut her locker. "Okay, well I need to get to class."

"Bye." Betty watched her walk away and started down the opposite direction. As she was walking, a hand slipped around her waist. "Hey babe."

Betty smiled at him. "Hey...so uh you're still coming to Veronica's party this weekend, right?" Her eyes wandered up to his, as they continued down the narrow hallway. "Yeah, of course!"

"Well, Veronica was wondering if you could bring Jughead as well." Archie laughed, as they walked into class and sat in their seats. "Does she like him or something?"

"Something like that...so you'll bring him?" Archie nodded and she turned her attention to the front of the class where the teacher stood.

Now, sitting in history class (bored to death), Betty couldn't help, but let her mind wander back to Jughead again. Maybe she was a little envious of what had just happened, but she couldn't understand why. She took a glimpse at Archie settled in the desk next to her. Archie was everything to her—smart, strong, good-looking, and nice. Archie was just so perfect, but Jughead was something else that she hadn't quite figured out yet. She returned her gaze back to her desk and rested her head against it with a heavy sigh.

Why couldn't she stop thinking about him...

——

It was Saturday—the day of Veronica's party. Betty had spent the last couple of days without thinking of Jughead and she was determined to keep things that way.

"Damn, B. The decor looks awesome." Veronica said, walking downstairs wearing a tight, short purple dress with matching heels and jewelry. "Oh my god...V!" Betty giggled, "You look amazing."

"Thank you," Veronica said running her hands through her hair. She walked over to the alcohol, grabbing a cup for herself. "Aren't you going to get dressed?"

Betty looked down at her t-shirt and jeans. "Oh shit. I forgot to bring one, oh god. Do you have an extra?"

Before Veronica could reply, the doorbell rung and Betty panicked. "Okay, go look through my closet. You'll find something to wear. I'll take care of everything down here."

Betty hurried up the stairs and into Veronica's room. She scanned the dresses in her closet, biting her lip nervously. They were all sexy, tight dresses that enhanced every curve of your body...Though Veronica rocket those outfits, Betty could never do the same. She wasn't like that. Her outfits were the loose, baggy type and unlike V, she didn't care much about what she wore.

Panic rose through her body as loud, muffled music and voices seeped through the walls of Veronica's room. People were already here! Groaning, Betty took one last look through the closet and found a dress that somewhat suited her taste. She put it on and stood in front of the mirror.

It was a black one that hugged her chest and revealed much of her cleavage, but luckily it loosened up at the bottom, stopping mid way to her knees. She ruffled out her hair and applied the little makeup she usually puts on. Giving one last look to her reflection, she hurried out and down the stairs.
