Day 1:
Hello, I am Adel Holger a 23-year-old male. I have instituted this journal to track my knowledge of the Plague, The disease that's been haunting my town and many others for as long as I've been alive. I'm a plague doctor, and if I may, the best plague doctor in the world or at least in my country.
This morning I woke up early as a result of being late countless times. The sun had yet to rise, and the stars were slowly disappearing. The stone floor was cold on my rugged barefoot feet as I shuffled to the small draw where my uniform resigned.
I picked up the old silky robe and put it on top of torn shirt and leather pants. The wooden cane sat in the dark corner of the room, looking very ominous along with my sharp-nosed mask.
However, before I put on the strange mask I went to go visit my child sleeping in her crib. I gave her a soft kiss on the forehead because I usually work long days which means that I don't get to see her that regularly.
As I grabbed my muddy work boots, which were traumatized by years of work, the Sun started to rise and peeked over the high mountain tops, blinding me even from inside my home.
Swiftly and suddenly I started to cough only to find instead of air or anything else, there was blood. My body felt sterilized, my brain was jolted by the thoughts running through my head. I try to push these thoughts aside as I head to work for another day of backbreaking labor.
I step outside to find Reshan, the town's fish salesman, sweeping outside his front door. Just then people started to wake up and I could smell them making breakfast, I went down the road to find the path had only become muddier.
I walk up to a building a am very familiar with. I walk in to see only darkness. I grab a match from my pocket and light the 4 large candles on the chandelier. In the corner of the room sat my desk, filled with papers, medicine, and research for my job. The ink from the jar I used to write was overflowing, dripping onto my desk. I search through one of my messy files to find the name of my next client.
Mason Mcarthy- Age: 52.
Written on the small piece of paper was an address I had not recognized. Was it from a neighboring town? I shrugged it off and gathered the supplies for the job.
I filled my leather satchel with old and new remedies. I had recently stayed up all night working for a new cure, but that would occur regularly. Before I left I remembered my notebook, and now I shall be writing my experience as a Plague doctor in it, in hopes that this might be valuable information for the future.
"Now then". I told myself,
"Time to get to work." I tipped my hat and in a rush, I left the brick building.
By the time I had stepped outside, there were people doing errands and working. I waved to most of the people because I knew this journey would take a while.
On the corner of the street sat stalls filled with horses. Though I can't say it smelled nice, I can say it smelled nicer than the fish store.
I walked up to the man who mucked the stalls.
"Hello, Sir what can I do for you?" Said the nice man.
"I would like your fastest horse," I said as I pulled a coin out of my pocket.
"Unfortunately..." The man stuttered
"Due to the new demands of profit from the king, I will now be charging double."
I sighed and pulled another coin from my pocket.
"Pleasure doing business with you!" The man said with a joyful grin."
As I walked through the stalls, with my pockets feeling lighter, I spotted a giant horse awaiting for me to climb on his saddle.
The stall mucker wished me luck and waved me as my horse trotted down a tight alleyway.
